If Kikyou lives in a world without shampoo, how does she have STRAIGHTER hair than Kagome, who does have it?

Maybe Kagome has naturally wavy hair, and Kikyou has naturally straight hair? 'Cause... even when my friend does use shampoo, her hair stays curly, and even when I do not, mine stays straight.

I'm not doubting the naturally wavy, but I think it's strange that the Feudal people keep their hair so neat without hair products and Kagome has them, but her hair is in *cough*worse condition.
