he was hardly a legend, having made only 25 appearances in his 4 years with the owls, but i was still very upset when steff told me of his death. it brought back memories of another motherwell legend, davie cooper, passing too young.
it's all the more sad for steff's family having such close ties with the o'donnells. her mum worked with phil's dad for 10 years and her aunt and uncle live a street away from them. saddest of all, her cousin is in his 9 year-old daughter's class in school. i didn't know any of this until this evening.
