Edgar Allan Poe’s original grave marker in Westminster Burial Ground in Baltimore, Maryland. As his literary influence expanded in the years after his death, fans collected the funds for a much larger and more ornate grave for Poe and his closest family a few yards away in the same grounds, and moved them to it. Gifts are still left at both grave sites, though the enigmatic “Poe Toaster” left his last yearly gift of roses and cognac in 2009, on Poe’s 200th birthday.
