My apologies for my long absense from livejournal these past few months! or however long it's been. i've been really busy with the end of this last quarter, among other things. and somehow, i just haven't made my way on to update! The end of this quarter truly was unlike any other. This is probably due to the fact that I had 12 research papers of at least 10 pages to grade in less than a week. On top of the final exams that I was reading for two sections of Eng 101, plus then my second reads from other Eng 101 classes. On top of that, I moved with Meg and Tracey to Dayton over the "busy weekend of grading". It was stressful. But I have to say that I did far better this quarter than I've ever done at breaking down the work to manageable goals for each day. And I worked until the last minute, but it did get all done. I didn't see Andrew much, but it did get all done! And wouldn't you know, the day I finish with school, he starts working ALot - for the next 6 days in a row, which we are now in the middle of. Looking back, this year of school has been amazing. I learned so much about teaching, about people, students, and English itself! I have to say I feel far more prepared for grad school than I would have if I had done it last fall. I think I had some growing up to do, and I needed to visit the real world. Well, this job has been a taste of the real world, even if it was an amazing job where I had lots of good support. I found myself kind of sad on my last day because I realized what a good thing I was leaving. I now look forward to Dayton in anticipation that it too will be good. My appartment is good, even though I am, sadly, not there, and I feel that the students will be a better quality there too probably. But it will be different, and I will have to adjust. I am excited to get back into classes again. I know, I'm a nerd. I might just be the kind of person that always has to be working on some sort of paper or project...maybe someday I'll be published! ooboy. For now, I enjoy my summer. I'm not working for two reasons. One, I decided that I needed a break this summer before school, and two, I have a lot going on this summer so that I could only work a week here and a week there anyways. Plus, not working will give me extra time to be in Dayton between all those things I'm doing. I miss the girls and our dear sweet kitten! So, right now I am helping Andrew get ready for DTS by constructing "the DTS backdrop". He always puts together a very large backdrop on the stage as a visual image of the theme of the week, and it is very cool. This year there's a throne. I like it! (Btw, dts is a camp for highschool students where i am a staffer, if you did not know). And next week I'll be there, staffing it up. :) It's always such a good time, but keep us in your prayers! After that, I have two weeks free, then another camp, then two more weeks free, and then it's Dayton time! This summer is going to fly . . .
