Well, that was dumb
So, I was at UCSC today, paying my fees. I decided I'd stop at the place with the nice view of the ocean, and take some pictures. While I was there, I decided I'd do two "photo stitch" shots (take a bunch of pictures, and have the computer merge them together into one really big photo).
Unfortunately, while I was shooting the first one, I moved. My whole body. Several feet. Which means I have photos that can't be stitched together, because moving two feet before rotating to take the next picture means that the foregrounds and backgrounds of the two pictures can not both line up!
Duh.
