According to Nielson, 70 million people watched Palin and Biden debate Thursday night.
In 2004, 120 million people voted in the Presidential election, the most ever. So roughly 60% of the people who will vote this year watched the Vice Presidential debate.
OMFG.
The previous most watched VP debate was Ferraro-Bush, which 57 million people watched (92,653,233 voted).
The first McCain - Obama debate drew about 52 million viewers. So either Palin and Biden are 1 / 3 more interesting that McCain and Obama, or Friday night debates are a really bad idea.
The next Presidential debate is Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how many people watch. (No, I won't be one of the watchers. In fact, I can't remember ever having watched a Presidential Debate. IMHO they're about as exciting as watching paint dry.) Who wants to bet they'll draw more than 70 million viewers?
