I might have missed Mihai a bit in this chapter (what can I say, I have developed a soft spot for him), but still I enjoyed it very much, as usual. =)

Gerulf might have been unable to work his own feelings out before Adara forced to actually think about them, but feelings aside, Gerulf’s a lot smarter than he allows himself to believe. I love it when he gets to plan things out and be sly. Though I’m not sure what Mihai (or anyone else for that matter) would think of Gerulf’s plan to hide him in a brothel (for male prostitutes!) of all places. I kind of want it to happen just because the situation would be funny in a way, even if the reasons to escape themselves are unlikely to be funny at all.

I’m also getting to like Adara more and more, clearly she can behave in a proper discreet lady-like fashion and still ask all the questions and get to the root of the matter, and even be a bit ruthless, when she needs to. Is she really clueless about her daughter’s feelings, though?

The Queen and her relationship with Jarek were intriguing. I hadn’t given her much thought until now, but my general impression of her before she appeared was rather negative. Now I want to pity her, but I’m not sure what to think yet…

What a grim place, this palace. It’s not as if it seemed a safe happy place full of welcoming people before, but for some reason it all feels a lot more foreboding after this chapter.

The chances I’ll be able to work out what’s going on in the court before you reveal it are very slim, to be fair XD. But I’m excited to find out where it all will lead us!

I'm glad you're enjoying it so much, and it's nice to get such in depth responses.

Gerulf is definitely more intelligent than he realises, and he'll get there eventually, don't worry. And at least The Banded Cat would be a change of pace for Mihai, having been so cooped up all his life :D

Adara's great. i originally only included her as a minor character, sort of a means to an end for all the times Gerulf had to be present at various places he wouldn't usually go. She's become more and more useful though. She would make a great politician. And I don't think she's blind to Tynne's feelings, but it hasn't occured to her to even consider the direction her daughter's feelings have taken, despite having a surrogate son who is gay.

And Queen Sigrid...time will tell with her ;)

I think Adara is a very distinct character. You should do more with her.
