One big-ass post...

Hey Everybody! Look who’s back from the dead! Since I have been incredibly horrible at keeping in touch with everyone over the year, I decided I will try to partially make up for it by posting a far-too-long-message, since I feel guilty and all.

Firstly, I have a little message for Frances--I am sooooOOOOOoooo sorry I wasn’t able to make it to your show. I wanted to, I really really wanted to, but I only got home from school the week before Christmas and with everyone making holiday plans without me there was no way I could schedule in a trip to Staunton. I’m sorry. Rick told me you did great, though even without him telling me I was certain you did awesome. That being said, just how cool was it to be onstage with David Loar and all the actors? I’m planning on coming down in March over spring break, so maybe I can see you then for a bit.

Now for me. This year has been…challenging & amazing. I managed to survive my first semester of college, though it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I’m a little disappointed in myself that I didn’t handle the adjustments to homework and classes better, but I know better now for next semester. I got decent grades, and in general my classes (Theater & Society, African Dance & Culture, Latin American History Through Women’s Eyes, Beginner Tap, and a First Year Seminar) went well. I am glad they are over though :-). I made some good friends, though oddly enough my group is not part of the theater crowd, but rather psych & calc & science people. I’m trying to get involved in some theater groups though. I have a pretty good work-study job in the scene shop, so I’m learning to build sets and read blueprints and use power tools and such.
I am excited for some classes next semester, and not looking forward to others. I have three theater ones--Stagecraft Techniques & Aesthetics, Voice & Speech for the Actor, and Community Performance Ensemble. The CPE is a class where we rehearse a short play, and then go to local middle schools and perform for them and lead discussions about the issues brought up in the play. Non-theater classes are Intro to Psych, Humanity & the Biological World, and Principles of Fitness & Wellness (which every freshman has to take). Not looking forward to those so much…

I am hoping to apply as a counselor for camp this coming summer, though I don’t know what session I would go for, if I have a choice. I need to get in touch with Doreen soon and see what I need to do. I’m missing Shakespeare a lot these days…my friends either don’t get it or just aren’t interested. It’s fine, but every now and then I get desperate for the type of conversations and situations that arose from YCTC and the love that came from that. I wish I could just be there year-round. Life would be awesome, and the homesickness wouldn’t be nearly as bad.

Christmas and the holidays were lovely. Candy, Dean Martin cds, jewelry, a new winter coat, and massaging seat cover (oh-so-necessary for my dorm room) were among the gifts, which make me quite happy. And everyone liked what I gave them. Ah Christmas. I have no real New Years resolutions, though I have my own personal vows to not procrastinate on homework and to get to bed at a decent hour. Nothing to do with New Years, just an attempt at surviving second semester.

Well, I think I have gone on long enough. Just so you all know, in spite of my own lousy communication skills, I constantly check email and will almost always respond if I am contacted by something other than mass emails, so if you have a need to read a letter from me feel free to drop a line anytime. Once I get back to school you can call my cell and I will also have aim (anitabonita788), so that’s a good way of keeping in touch with me as well. I still love you all and love hearing from you, even though I personally have been not so good at keeping in touch.

So drop me a line and let me know what’s going on in your lives. Have a great new year, and I hope I can see some of you! Love love!
Anna

P.S. I'm hoping to be better about posting on LJ this year, I do miss it :-)
