My house smells like graham crackers and molasses. Probably because I just finished baking the s'mores cupcakes but who knows, it could be anything. Unfortunately I have to wait until tomorrow to eat them because I am too sleepy to pipe out thousands of pounds of buttercream frosting tonight. Woe is me!
My dad and I went grocery shopping today. Finally! I pretty much ran out of meal-making food a couple days ago and have been a very hungry bunny. I was going to take pictures of the stuff I bought, but I forgot. So instead I will list them and the meals I plan to make the next couple weeks! You might be wondering why I would list my grocery purchases. There are several reasons: I really like to talk about food; you might be considering buying me some produce, this will give you some helpful hints; I am really unexciting.
- 2 loaves of 14-grain bread. 14-GRAINS! I will also be using this to make breadcrumbs. I was worried that the bread would be too "healthy" tasting (like I would take a bite and my mouth would be coated with flax. or it would be really solid) but no, it's yummy.
- a bunch of vital wheat gluten! This is to make seitan.
- vegan chocolate, yum.
- a crapload of Earth Balance margarine and shortening. A girl has to bake.
- graham crackers.
- about 4 cups of cremini mushrooms and 4 portobello mushrooms.
- frozen green peas
- 2.5 lbs. yukon gold potatoes
- a bulb of garlic. I actually already have a ridiculous amount of garlic, but I wanted a bigger bulb.
- 1 c. quinoa
- 2 c. white beans. I have always used canned beans so I am nervous (and all aflutter with anticipation) about using dried beans.
- 2 c. nutritional yeast
- extra-firm tofu
- organic powdered sugar (no bone char!)
What will I be making with all these delightful things (plus things I already have around the house)? So many vegan delicacies, I say! S'mores cupcakes, sugar cookies, seitan, stroganoff, garlic mashed potatoes, chickpea-quinoa pilaf, rustic white beans and mushrooms, mac daddy, and probably some falafel. My keyboard is covered in drool.
I have been thinking about making a separate cooking blog, but I don't know. I pretty much use other people's recipes. I guess it would just be a place to post pictures and I could do that here. Basically, I would start another one if people were annoyed by all my food ramblings here.
