(no subject)
I had my Intro to Archiving class today and it was AWESOME. The professor had us go around and say why we were taking the course (because it's only one credit so some people use it for schedule padding) and almost everyone was a history major. I said I'm taking it because I'm a librarian and she "pffft" at me and then told me she liked my shoes. I AM IN. A+!
Anyway. We went into the archives and they are a mess but it was really thrilling. I'm hoping that since I'm good at librarian-ing, I should be good at archiving as well. Mostly it's just filing and such that needs to be done. There are a bunch of boxes full of old photographs that need to be filed and I kind of want to do that but it would probably be really difficult. wheee! Also, there was a bookend on the floor and it was just like the ones we use at work so my heart went *pitter patter*.
Basically the only thing we have to do for the course is spend 2 hours (outside of class) working in the archives. I will probably spend a lot more than that, if I end up being good at it. I am such a nerd stupendous person.
