Class cancel notices - teacher should do it

My MWF 9am Literature class has been canceled  on Fri and now on Monday. It takes 20 minutes to walk from my dorm to the language building. On Mondays my next class is at 12:30pm. I wish that teachers would send out an email or something to let us students know that class is canceled before we get there. This would also help commuters who drive 30-45 mins or more. Now I have 3.5 hours to burn. Good thing I brought a book and some homework.  I'm supposed to continue the literature reading and follow the syllabus.
