Gerard makes a point of getting on the train early. He hates the Hunger Games, loathes them. Waking up screaming in his bed at night over what he did to win his year is a regular occurrence but since there are other Mentors in District 10, he gained the chance not to have to participate in the Reaping anymore. His fellow Victor Mark sits on stage during the Reaping instead, representing the Victors of District 10, smile plastered on like it's all good fun because he and Gerard have a deal. He's twenty years older and he puts on the public show at the Reaping for Gerard, bless the man, in exchange for Gerard doing all the one on one duties with the Tributes on the train.
