So, I had a kinda-date tonight. Sorta. ofangoriousone & mondegreen, I didnt tell you because I didnt want to jinx it. I didn't really mention it to anyone. It's kind of a weird situation. I found him on Craigs List - no don't laugh just listen okay?
I've got needs okay? That might be TMI but I havent been with anyone (aside from a bad, aborted one night stand this summer when I was staying @ my dad's place thats worthy of its own post, seriously) since Paul almost a year ago. He set the bar pretty high what with being amazing and adorable and charming and, for those four months, mine. But now I'm back and I want SOMETHING. Problem is, I have an irrational fear of men that comes from my verbally and emotionally abusive dad, my hateful esteem-crushing high school Ex, and and being the one a volley of girl friends cried on when triggery shit happened to them. But I'm also in the D/s scene and when I'm Dominating a situation, I feel safe.
So occasionally I troll Craigs List for submissive guys. Usually, its just funny - like reloadint twitter because omg people are crazies. Bt I've actually made a couple friends with guys who I met through CL who I liked but had zero chemistry with in real life but I haven't met anyone I really clicked with.
Anyway, so there's this guy. Let's call him Boy to protect the innocent. We tried to meet up on Tuesday and it just didnt win. I thought he stood me up, he thought I stood him up - turns out we were sitting ten feet away from each other and missed each other. Very amusing.
We tried again tonight and met at a book shop. He walks over and I'm on my laptop, under a *pile* of graphic novels - Hellboy, Sandman, Preacher(which I didnt get to start) and Max Brooks's graphic novel(he of the IMPECCABLE World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War) Boy notices and bam, just like that we're talking about World War Z, zombies as a metaphor for conformity, why the new wave of Hollywood seems to be making such GOOD zombie movies in general right now. From there we went to Stephen King's The Stand and from the Stand, and survival stories, Lost. From Lost to Fringe, from Fringe to Flash Forward, Flashfoward to Glee, Glee to V, V to Firefly, from Firefly to Dexter, from Dexter to True Blood(Lafayette's his favorite)and from True Blood to Buffy&Angel. We must have spent 20 minutes talking about, I swear to god, PAIRINGS ON BUFFY, ANGEL, AND VARIOUS PLOT POINTS THAT WORKED FOR US!
And then, I swear to god, he goes "Yeah, after I finished watching all of Buffy I was like 'that is not enough' so I went on line and I found fanfiction." I'm not fucking kidding you guys. He said that. He doesnt write it or read it much anymore but he knows what it is and when I mentioned that I'm a slash writer he goes "Yeah, there really arent any good same sex stories on TV. Makes sense you'd want to write your own." WTF Boy, how the hell are you real, please be my new best friend if not more? From that we got onto the topic of, and again I'm totally serious, Supernatural. He's a HUGE fan. I'm gonna repeat that. Straight guy. Supernatural fan. OMG THEY EXIST YOU GUISE! Like a fucking white leopard in the bush. We talked about why Katie's Ruby is better than Gen's Ruby and how he likes Castiel but prefers that Bobby had more screen time instead. And then he asked who I liked more, Dean or Sam. And then he kinda held his breath and when I said Dean, he actually like...sighed in relief and said "Yeah, me too. I havent been happy with Sam's character since like season 1." Then he kinda waxed poetic a little bit about the series brilliance and how he half wants it to end this season so it can go out with a bang and half doesnt so he can have more. Is that fandom speak or what?
And he's cute. Did I mention that? Yeah. He's adorable.
It was crazy. Seriously, I haven't had a conversation that intensely fandomy about something other than bandom or Entourage *loves on ofangoriousone & mondegreen* since ComicCon. If absolutely nothing else, I intend to keep this one as a friend because HE IS IN ALL MY FANDOMS!
And that was just like... the first half of the conversation. We were at the Borders till it closed and I was like "I'm not really done talking are you?" and he's like "Nope." so we moved locations to the Waffle House and talked for another hour. That conversation was mostly about the kink stuff. And that was fun because its always nice to talk about these things. He must have said six or seven times to me tonight "I feel like I can really trust you, which is crazy." That's ALWAYS nice to hear.
So, hopefully it wont be a one off. I liked the Boy a lot. But even if it is, ugh, such good fandom talk today. And on top of the amazing AP MCR pictures (the ones in the studio, not the crazy photoshopped ones) and a reasonably successful hall government meeting and going to class? Seriously good day. I alwas like feeling like I *did* something with my waking hours you know?
