chicken disaster
so i've been feeling sorry for the chickens being locked up in the hen house, so i decided to give them all the seeds and rinds from the melons i cut up and let them out for a little while. they really like the seeds and the cool melon must taste good on a hot humid summer day. they seemed happy to be out and ate the seeds quickly. i'm reading the Middlesex and sat in the sun enjoying the backyard. after a while, i had to go to the bathroom and get some water. in the meanwhile, i feed the 4 dogs and let them out the front door, where i see Sissy (our out-door dog) , boy,come around front with the red hen in her mouth. Sissy killed the other chickens, but I didn't think she'd get them so fast. i wasn't out of the chicken area for more than 15 minutes and she killed another chicken. james took our company caving this afternoon and is he going to be mad when he gets home! boy, did i screw up.
