V-day weekend and other assorted nonsense

I am so extremely excited for this weekend. Our plans are as follows- Friday night I am making my husband a nice romantic dinner at home. Eggplant parmesan- our appetizer at dinner the night we got engaged, chicken piccata with garlic mashed potatoes- the meal at our wedding, and cheesecake- the desert that presented my ring to me the night we got engaged. :) I'm so excited about getting to cook real food again, and they are foods that mean something to us!

Saturday morning I have to get up and go play with the babies, but I have requested breakfast in bed when I get back. And then we are doing nothing for the rest of the day. Husband is going to drag the second tv into the bedroom so we can lie in bed and play video games and watch movies and just generally spend good lazy quality time together all day. I cannot even express to you how excited I am to get to spend this much time with my husband! It's been so long! Usually we just get an hour together here or there and Sunday afternoon- but typically we nap most of the afternoon.

Maybe on Sunday we can use our Chicago money and go buy chairs for the game room, so no one has to sit on the floor anymore! That would be amazing!

Meanwhile back in the real world, dear husband is a dunce. They posted the company list for their UIL show today. In texas, UIL is the governing body over almost all high school competitions. Yes, we turn theatre into a sport in the grand state of Texas. I adamantly disagreed with this until last year, when it was explained to me that for all of it's evils, the theatre programs in Texas are huge compared to other states and many people attribute that to their being a competition. It gives the kids something bigger to work for, and it gives parents bragging rights and all that.

I got off track. They posted the cast list today. My husband told me how he would cast it, and admitted that it's heartless. They have twin seniors in the department and he was only going to cast one of them. One is more talented, but the other works apparently tons harder. So they cast only the hard working twin. He just called me in a terrible depressed mood because he was shocked at their reaction.

...Really? 1- They girls, of course they cried. 2- They're seniors, and gave up another activity specifically for UIL. 3- They're seniors and this is the last show of the year. 4- They always do everything together. 5- They're seniors and have never had a chance to be cast before because last year's seniors were so good. 6- The same thing happened after the first show was cast. 7- You told me it was heartless!

He is completely disturbed by their reaction. I am so surprised. I really thought he knew what he was in for. When I said, "I don't think you are a bad person; sometimes you have to make tough decisions," I thought he was going to start crying. Didn't see that one coming. He's lived with me for long enough, he should understand how emotional girls are.

My friend has a registry under her married name, which she never ever uses. Apparently, now that she has two kids, she's decided to use it. I feel like a dunce, but not really because she's never used it before. Thanks for all the advice though!
