I'm currently looking for a roommate, and my father emailed me this:
"Since you are looking for a roommate, I think this might be a good time for you to review that excellent movie "Single White Female". In addition to having a valuable moral for a person in your situation, it is a thoughtful and entertaining and sometimes educational account of one person's psychotic inhumanity to another, a theme that certainly has its socially redeeming aspects."
Does anybody else get this kind of advice from close family members on a regular basis, or is this just reason #5042 why I turned out the way I am?

Some rare good news out of Washington:
Congress voted to end Patriot Act snooping of library and bookstore records.

The New Yorker has an
interesting article on suicides from the Golden Gate Bridge. I take issue with the author's assertion that most area residents know someone who has jumped from the bridge. Not so much! But it is true that we don't seem to feel a burning need to get an effective suicide barrier in there, and I wonder why that is, since most of the people who survive the fall end up being very glad they did.

Our CRM system at work sucks and the upper management people who chose it over systems that don't suck apparently do not understand that there's NO POINT in having a bug tracking system if nobody can ever find anything in it. *stabs CRM system*

29 days until the season premiere of Battlestar Galactica! Not that I'm, you know, counting or anything.
