My mother just emailed to let me know that she participated in a white elephant gift exchange at a group birthday party this weekend and walked away with the ultimate prize: a smaller-sized version of the infamous leg lamp from A Christmas Story! My father is ecstatic, and I worry that nothing she does will ever be able to top this. In fact, this may very well represent the zenith of my family's accomplishments; we have nowhere to go but down.
