I can't sleep, so I'm up doing this. I think I've finally found something that a) I wanna do, and b) might bring me out of the cranky funk I've been in lately. I saw an ad in The Poughkeepsie Journal: the [Dutchess] County Players are holding auditions for their December 2006 production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" this coming weekend. I REALLY REALLY wanna try out for this show, but a few things are making me hesitate. First of all, I don't know how big a commitment it would be. What if I got a job that interfered with the rehearsal schedule? What if it takes up all my weekends and never allows me to make trips up to Binghamton to see my friends? And if I even if I decide to audition, what song do I sing? They want sheet music. Blah. As far as I know, no other other theater groups in the area have auditions coming up, and it would be a (slight) step up from college community theater. If I got a part in Joseph, it would add another show to my resume (which only has five shows) and it would increase my chances of getting cast in a more professional venue, like Tri-Arts in Sharon, Connecticut (a summer theater that uses a mix of Equity and non-Equity actors, plus they pay a stipend). Ugh. I don't know what to do.
