The "Real World" rears its ugly head

Ugh. I'm pooped and I have a headache. Probably because I had a hard time falling asleep last night, then my mom woke me up at 6:30am to pick up the blueberries that fell out of the refrigerator because she was running out the door to work, then I go back to bed only to get a phone call at 7:10 from the hospital asking me to come in and work the day shift. I pondered this for a few minutes (I was really tired, plus I lost my name badge AND my lab coat), then called Mom to ask her advice. She told me to have Dad help me find my name badge and just come in anyway, I'd only have to work for maybe 6 hours. So I did it...nearly having a breakdown in the process. First, I was tired and hadn't gotten much sleep, second I didn't have my badge or lab coat and thought I was gonna get in trouble, thirdly I wasn't in the mood to go especially because they wanted me to work the busiest floor, and finally I was afraid I'd forgotten everything. But I went anyway because I deperately need the money. I did ok...it was busy but not ridiculously so, I hadn't forgotten much it came back to me after a while, my mom was able to lend me her white coat, and nobody made a stink about me not wearing an ID badge. I tried going to security to get another badge made, but they said their system is down and I'd have to come back some other time. Not a horrible day by any means, plus I met someone new, a patient care tech named Amie. I ate lunch with her in the birthing center break room, and she seems nice.

As for the job hunting thing, I got 2 calls today from companies wanting to talk to me and possibly wanting interviews, one at home(dad took a message and called me at work) and one on my cell(my voicemail got it). Neither people/companies who want me sounded familiar. This is because they're not companies I applied to, these people went on careerbuilder.com or whatever other job sites I belong to and stalked me. They read my resume and decided that I fit their profile. It's a little shady and weird, and I don't think I wanna work for either one (I think one's an insurance company, the other is banking and investments...ewww). I don't get it. I majored in English and minored in Theatre, and I have some (read: very little) experience with marketing and PR. You would think they'd want a finance or marketing major. Hmm...smells a bit like yuppie scum to me. Too bad there aren't any good paying jobs that let you come to work in sweats or a rock t-shirt and ripped jeans with sneakers or flip flops. If I have to wear corporate attire, I'd rather it be for something cool(read: arts/entertainment/PR/publishing). I'll go to these interviews for practice, but I think I'll hold out for my super-cool Sex-and-the-City-esque dream job.
