A bit or a lot...

Jan 05, 2007 13:01

It has been a while since I've last posted. Lots has happened, I've done quite a bit, and I've been thinking... so scroll fast down to see your other friends' posts or read. Totally your call.

London is expensive. That pretty much sums up my thoughts. The one pound =s one dollar. repeat expensive. Actually had you changed the pound sign to a dollar sign it was reasonable. but then you had to double it. Yikers.  We went to a bunch of free museums. My personal favorite place (major dork about to show) was by far the British Library. Original Alice in Wonderland book. Like the one Lewis Carroll (which is a pen name... didn't know that) wrote for his neighbor. Tons of amazing originals and such. Along with the Magna Carta and a bible that weighed like 14 pounds or something. Besides the Library, my favorites were the shows. We saw the Producers. That was a stich. Loved it. Had pretty decent seats. Got the ticket at half price so it was a bit better but not much with costs. The next day we took a tour of the theatre (Royal Theatre Dury Lane). That was a ton of fun. We saw the wigs and the wig room and we went under the stage. We even saw the beginning of the set for the next production starting in April or May... ready?? Lord of the Rings. It looks pretty spectacular (visually, who knows about the show itself).  Then we saw Spamalot with TIM CURREY!!! Oh my goodness. That man is the MOST relaxed actor i've ever seen on stage. It was wonderful. The lucky jerk in seat D 1 of the stalls got to go up on stage and have his picture taken with the cast and have the cast sing to him with his name in the song. Jerk. Finally I saw Cabaret with my mama. Wow. UNCA's would be rated PG and this one would have been R. All I can say is thank heavens our school didn't have the sailor/cousin come out completely nude... no wait he had a hat on his head. They did the ending differently. It was pretty powerful in a different way. At the end the word Cabaret (with a K actually) was spelled out backwards as if looking into it. A soldier walked by and knocked each letter over as the Emcee sang. The wooden letters echoed as the hit the ground. The final letter was knocked over by the emcee who then joined five other already nude actors (male and femal) huddled in the back. Then using gobos (spelling?) it appeared as if a gas chamber. The oddest thing though, when the curtain came down you could hear them talking backstage before curtain call. Strange. I'll end the london bit.

Christmas (should actually be before london). It was funish. Christmas eve we went to the Costello's as usual. Sat in the basement with Ash and Kaitlyn (she's a senior this year) and gossiped. It was fun. I am just not as big into the high school drama gossip. Oh well. Christmas day woke up went and opened presents...

Boots (hot pink too big getting new ones shipped to me), headphones that cancel the noise (the cheap brand but hey they work), pen, hat, some clothes, a unca bag that i will not be bringing back (from the step grandmother- she didn't do as well this year for presents), two cds and two dvds (HAROLD AND MAUDE!!! and Kinky Boots haven't watched it yet but looks good. It is by the same folks who did calendar girls), and finally an amazing calendar. AMAZING. The profits go to the wounded veteran and family fund. It is all pictures of Marines who've served either in Iraq or afganistan. I love it. Dr. B gave me a really cute purse, too. Then we went to Marylee and Ash's for brunch at 10 am. I still don't know how that is a brunch. We went downstairs after eating with Jordan, Jamie, and Erik. It was kind of dull. We watched ocean's 11. Erik graduated with me (ashley likes him). Jordan is Coach's kid, a year older than me a bit of a lady's man but I know how to handle him. Jamie is Jordan's brother a senior this year (ashley likes him, too).

Ok then New Year's eve. Yep it's official I can't have a great one. I was at the watts' house. Jordan and Ash were there along with Jamie and three of his friends. I ended up just going down stairs with the adults. Cause it was just too high schoolish.  Watched the boys shoot off fireworks. In the rain. Didn't even get champagne. It was rainy. At midnight I was standing alone trying to keep some what dry as I was still getting over a cold. oh well.

New Year's day at my place for dinner. Boys/Men (Watts and my dad) watched football. Ladies (mom, ash and her mom, and ms. watts and i) chatted. Good food. I made the most amazing dessert. I made from scratch like flour and baking soda scratch, stickey toffee pudding. A Scottish dessert.

Since then I went to Trier with Ashley. That was fun. yesterday I went to Koblenz with Phil and Jordan. I had an AMAZING time. It was fun being with the guys again. We went to a cafe where we got free champagne. Then we went to a huka (spelling...) cafe. The boys smoked while I drank peppermint tea with peppermint leaf in it. Then we went to an indian restaurant. Then came back. It was a great time.

So final thoughts that i've been, well, thinking...
1) I have a feeling this is going to be a good year, BUT I have to take some chances. I know I play it safe all the time. Nothing exciting or interesting will happen if I stay in my shell.
2) I don't make resolutions because frankly I hate to fail and making them will lead to breaking them in some form or another.
3) 2006 was a stand out year. But nothing horrid really happened. Plus I became better friends with people. I like where I am and where I'm going.
4) I love kids. I love hanging out in my mom's class because kids are so exciting. It isn't dull. They do things. And I love to babysit. I have another job with the 7 month and the 7 year old tomorrow.
5) I'm going to try some things this year. I may or may not succeed but I'm going to try. I'm going to do an outdoor ed trip. I'm going to audition for the wrestling season even though I probably in all liklihood not get a part. I
6) 'm going to save money for the summer because I don't want to have to work during the summer because it'll be the last summer I can because next summer (2008) I want to work at Camp Tekoa and the following summer (2009) I want to apply to be the summit intern. The next summer will be spent finding a teaching job, moving into somewhere, and starting a second job because I'll need two with teacher salaries the way they are. But that is a major tangent and also way far away.
7) I'm going to try and stop planning everything. This goes back to number one. Not everything has to be itemized. So number 6 part of you is gone out of my head now.

I'm going to end this terribly long post now.

Good bye 2006. Hello 2007.
May friendships grow stronger,
may new friendships begin,
and maybe just maybe I'll end up with a date by 2008. (hey that rhymed! just the last bit.)
