the end
So basically, we left for Virginia on the 22nd and landed at Dulles Airport 5 hours later. We went to Paula's for the first couple of nights. Paula's house always was probably my favorite part of my Virginia visits. She lives in a country town called Delaplane where her closest neighbors are at least a 1/2 hour away. She bought the house and property about 5 years ago from a couple of hicks who let the place literally rot and get buried in fly and spider shit. it smelled horrid. She had to fix up the place and it took her about year. It's like a little girl's wonderland seeing that it has over 25 acres of endless forests, 4 horses, 2 cats, and 2 dogs. The nights were warm and you could actually see the stars. We caught fireflies and ate the little food Paula had. She ordered the Aviator on PPV and then we all fell asleep to it.
After a couple night in Delaplane, we went to drive to the house my other aunt, Pat got for us. The house was amazing. The backyard had direct access to Cheasapeake bay and had a motor boat (off limits) and a row boat (SCHWING!) with a nice deck/dock. The house had so much..everything. These people knew how to spend their money clearly. There was tons of decor and art. Overall a very nice house. 5 beds, one being those really cool termperpedic matresses that mold to your body. We met the people only for a minute before they left for their trip. We also got to meet their ugly little dog named Foo, who they inherited. That dog is ridiculous, which you can probably tell from their pictures. They also had a pillow with a dog that looked like Foo on it. no joke. After they left, my other relatives came. We had my uncle's 40th birthday party. it was nice seeing my relatives seeing that they are all pretty awesome and i never see them. we did a lot of boating, bird watching and just relaxing on the deck. The atmosphere over there is amazing. At night the air is so warm and there the only sound is nature. It's so peaceful and refreshing. I wish I had access to that kind of place all the time.
My dad decided to take me and Shauna to Ocean City, where he used to vacation when he was little. The board walk was similiar to Santa Cruz but I liked it a little better. Although the shops were repetitive, as expected, the merchandise was actually reasonably priced at most stores. There is a lot more art too which was awesome. The entire side of a building was just covered with art. We saw the rides but didint go on any. The atlantic ocean was the perfect temperature. it was cold but not overwhelmingly freezing like over here. Me and Shauna decided that the people def were not as attractive as California but it was kind of nice just becuase you really had nothing to be self conscious of. if i was self conscious. They had lifeguards which was really surprsiing seeing how many people were there. its nice that they try. the beach was where we saw the jesus art. The Christianity vibe seems to be a lot stronger on the east, which really shows in my uncle. it made me feel a lot more comfortable for some reason. there were also a lot of cool play structures which made me wish i was 5 again. thennnn after a great day, we bought some of the best fudge ever and heay ded back.
We went back to paula's and then flew home.
Overall, it was a great trip. It was the first time I've been on the east coast since my grandma died. I really missed her since the family get togethers really weren't the same without her insanity and stubborness. She really was amazing. Now that shes gone I really see her traits in my relatives, especially my aunts. My uncle, dad and aunts decided to sell her house which really makes me sad. it makes her being gone actually a reality. oh well. hopefully i'll get to see it again some day.
well i got kind of sick after the airport with the biggest migraine i've ever had. it seriously killed me throughout the day and into the night. i felt bad because my dad had to stay up with me. i felt better knowing that he had the next day off but i still felt bad. i had an on and off fever and swollen throat. it's pretty much gone now but that seriously sucked balls. i love my father.
so, I might actually be going to Virigina quite soon again. My parents just told me at dinner that paula has to have a hysterectomy pretty soon and seeing that she has 7 animals, lives alone, and everyone jsut took off work to go to maryland, theres no one to take care of her after her surgery. So hopefully shes alright and if she needs me I'll be glad to go. Shes seriously one of the only people id drop everything for.
That was seriously just what I needed.
