Competition!
Well this was one amazing weekend!!!
where to begin?
friday school seemed to drag by... i spent most of the day trying to think over the dances in my head and making myself sick with nerves (not good, i know). i went home and started getting all my stuff ready, only to arrive at the studio and realize that we didn't even need our costumes - GREAT. haha so we had rehersal from like 6 to 9 - darlene got kind of mad at us during the group numbers but my class was the last ones there and she made this really sweet little speech about how all the younger kids look up to us and how we're the advanced students now and how she loves us all etc - it was just cute.
i went home and tried to go to sleep early but i basically had butterflies in my stomach the whole night and couldn't really sleep.
saturday morning i got up around 8ish? and started getting ready. i tried to eat something but it was hard to keep anything down. i got dressed in tights and a leo. and then my mom helped me with my hair, false eyelashes (eep!) and i did my makeup. then we made sure all the costumes were set and everything was in the bags and set off! we stopped at wilson farms to buy like 5 vitamin waters hahaha
we got there in time to watch the first number of the competition and "tell him he's yours" - the first number from our studio - they were fantastic - im in love with their costumes! we then went downstairs to the dressing room (small, and cramped) and i got ready for my first number (jazz - the most stressful!) waiting backstage in the wings was the worst but we all tried to stay positive - darlene said a prayer with us and before i knew it we were on! jazz went well and then it was on to tap, then the two productions. after our first number the day seriously seemed to fly by and i can barely remember actually being on stage - it's all a blur!
after our closing production, which also happened to be the last number of the competition, we all went on stage to wait for the awards, which took foreveerrr to get started! the results were awesome - all of our studio's numbers won first place, including troy's solo, and our production won best overall high score of the whole thing! my classes tap number also won a special award which was just awesome since we didnt think we had done that great ...
after awards i went down and saw morgan and tom! then got changed and came home and crashed. i was just too tired/exhausted to do anything!
sunday i got up at six in the morning (uuuggghhh) for the workshops. it was actually awesome - the teachers were fabulous and the numbers were all really well choreographed. ballet wasn't that bad! i loved lyrical the most i think (the song for this entry is the song we danced to in it) our hip hop/jazz teacher was seriously hot so that was a lot of fun ;) tap was kind of retarded because i couldn't see her feet ... am i missing anything? oh ya modern/contemporary - it was kind of weird but me and gabe had fun being partners and darlene laughed at us hahahaha
during the lunch break lindsay, troy, eriketa, leah, rachel, nicole, and allison auditioned for the VIP thing - lindsay was the only one who made it - i was so proud of her! she totally deserves it she's so amazing. but apparently the thing costs like $5,000 so she prob. wont end up doing it but it's a great experience.
oooh well i didnt have enough money to buy a sweatshirt sadly, but i did get a shirt that has the DanceAmerica "declaration" on the back which is super cute - but i noticed a ton of grammar errors in it which kind of pissed me off? haha im such an english nerd!
umm ya after workshops i got home around 5 and did NOT feel like doing any hw soo i didnt! haha it was great.
today my whole body is sore but its a good feeling, like when you know you worked hard? my turns were on yesterday and i was strangely flexible ... ? it was odd lol
this week is prob gonna suck what with SATs on saturday yuck! but i won't think about that yet - for now i plan on being happy with what we accomplished this weekend - we rock. :)
