back to the hospital

Roger spent Saturday and part of Sunday in the ER again.  He called me at work on Saturday saying that he had passed out twice while sitting in a chair and that his stomach nausea was getting worse.  I hurried home and got him to the ER a little after 1:00 PM.  After they checked him in, the techs took some blood and ran an EKG.  Everything was normal, so they took him for an xray to see if there was some sort of intestinal blockage.  Negative also.  The doctor came in to talk to us, and while he was there, getting ready to send Roger home,  the heart rate monitor alarm went off.  The doctor continued to watch the monitor and decided that Roger was spending the night with a heart monitor so that they could record what was happening.  He's thinking that the nausea is being caused by the heart rate changes rather that the other way around.  He called it Supraventricular Tachycardia, and it could be the cause of all of Roger's symptoms these past years.
Roger now has an appointment on Thursday to get a holter monitor to wear for 30 days, and then an appointment with the cardiologist on Friday.  I'm glad that someone finally saw what was happening, because we've been telling the doctor about that for a long time, and he thought that the gastric reflux was causing the increased hear rate.  I'm just happy that someone is taking a close look at the issues.
