so i officially can't relate to people who aren't from new york. i was talking about jekyll and hyde and my friend starting singing a song that was clearly NOT in the musical. so we argued for about 20 minutes about it. then when we got back to our dorm we went online and looked it up. turns out she was singing a song that was from the show when it was still a concept musical but was taken out before it went to broadway. i got really mad and said that it's a totally different thing and if it's not from the broadway version it's something entirely separate and you need to say that. then she got mad at me because she thought i was being a broadway elitist. i say i'm allowed to be an elitist. versions of a show before it moves to broadway are still valid songs of course, but the broadway version of a show is what counts. i really can't wait to be back with new yorkers who understand me.
