Ok....here's the scoop: still looking for a new job. My job fluctuates in the level of boredom and interesting-ness. For instance, my boss was gone the week of Thanksgiving, as well as the Friday before that. So 4 working days without her, and I had 6 or 7 things on the list to do. What would be the problem with that, you ask? Well, 4 of those things take under a half hour to do. I was offering myself up to other people if they needed help. Thankfully, the Feds came through and gave me a couple more things, though it still wasn't really enough. Then, there have been a couple of days last week and this week where she really doesn't know what to have me do, because we're at such a slow point. And she's going to be gone the 13th-26th - oh joy. Please, let there be something to do, or let her boss send me home after an hour's work. But then there are times when I have stuff to do and the job is mildly enjoyable.
As far as the job hunt goes, I had an interview last night at David's Bridal. Having had two experiences buying dresses there (my dress for Cole's wedding and my own wedding dress), I knew what the atmosphere was like and I thought it might be fun. I've been searching around on Careerbuilder.com and that's where I saw the David's Bridal. So anyway, the interview went great, the gal interviewing me wanted me to me with the store manager after I talked to my husband about the details. Well, they work on commission per a 2-week period. And if you don't make the base commission level, you earn $7.50 an hour. That sucketh big-time. Plus, since they're going to start their busy season soon, as brides will start looking for dresses for the spring and summer, the hours will pick up. Full time would mean full availability, and that definetely means Saturdays. Seeing as how I'm still kinda new to the Diamond clan, there would be a lot of family things I'd miss out on, not to mention the fact that I may get my own character soon in the D&D group. So, I had to decline the offer. I do believe it would have been a fun job. Onwards
.
I do have another prospect. There is a semi-new spa in the area, and they're looking for a "maitre d'spa". Basically a receptionist. Well, I dropped off my resume there last week Tuesday or Wednesday, and when I went in, a gal was sitting at the front desk on the phone. She paused her conversation, asked Dawn to come out, and then went in back. Who is Dawn? Well, it's the same Dawn I know from the Ballroom! I had no idea she worked there! I asked her what the job was. She said they have one gal who does the basic "recepting" jobs, answering phones, etc. She (Dawn) does some phone stuff and ordering supplies and the like, and the position they want to fill would be receptionist / manager's assistant. Truthfully, I could do very well at that, but Dawn didn't know hours or pay. But, I have an "in" with her, and she's going to put in a good word for me. I think this would be great, because Mike and I could probably still carpool and save on gas and I'd be working with a friend!
Other than that, I don't really have any prospects. I applied online again for a US Bank teller position, but I haven't heard anything about that. Suppose I could call tomorrow afternoon.
Married life is wonderful. =) What else need I say?
Love,
Linds
