I really like this - but I'm struggling with my understanding of kamma right now. I'm having trouble because I feel like I understand 98% that free will doesn't exist, even if some Buddhists say it does. I see that all things are conditioned except for Nirvana, so every thought and inclination we have is conditioned, and so our supposedly "free thoughts" are dependantly originated. I don't really know.
Just wanted to say too that Going to California is an amazing song, and I like the poetry.
I don't think it's easy to be conscious of one's karma. Far from it. Through our life, we develop a perspective of the world, and it determines right and wrong, good and bad for us. I think buddhism tries to teach to break through these perceptions, and gain awareness of one's karma. I still grapple with the thought that one can gain true enlightenment as a human being. I think we can get close, and we can prepare ourselves for death, but as you said, life is conditional and it isn't until we break free from the physical chains that holds us that we truly obtain Nirvana. That's my own personal thought. Thanks for the compliment.
