One place to call home

It's starting to sink in that here in Austin, I have one place to live, and I'm actually going to be spending a lot of time in the place where I'm paying rent. Last year, I was teaching in Long Beach and staying two nights a week with a very generous friend. Although I paid rent on a place in Pasadena, I was usually there one, maybe two nights a week (although sometimes not even that). I was most reliably at my place every two weeks or so when I needed to do laundry. And the rest of the time, I was at idahoev's place in Altadena.

Of course, I'm also still pretty much alone here, so I can't really compare the two situations, but it is interesting to notice how much of my life was set up to be mobile and how I won't need that now. When I get an office, I will have things there so I can shower after I bike to campus or work out, but it won't be quite the same situation, especially if I don't have a car to commute with.
