So, yesterday I had an audition for this play called Grandchildren of the Buffalo Soldiers which will be touring from August to February accross the United States. It will pay 700 dollars a week and blah blah blah. The writing is crap, the story is weak, I don't like auditions, I don't want to leave NY and live on my own for six months, I don't want to do plays just for money, I don't want to audition poorly, yet I don't want to be a coward about auditioning. The audition went brilliantly well, considering (there were obviously things I could've/ should've done better, but for my first professional audition I handled myself well). And the icing on the cake is that I didn't get the part so I don't have to compromise my morals for the sake of 700 dollars a week and the lead in a professional show.
IN ADDITION TO THAT! The Stella Adler Studio is going to offer a bitchin' ass course in the fall called Independent Filmmaking for Trained Actors which sounds epic and is exactly the type of thing I would absolutely love to do and just the type of thing I would be missing out on if I got this part in the Buffalo play. Not to mention that my band would suffer a great deal with my absence over a six month period.
Speaking of which, my ever generous brother got me a free ticket to see Julius Caesar with Denzel Washington on OPENING NIGHT (with a house crammed with celebrities!!!) and I had to turn it down because of band practice.
SCOFF!
In other news, on monday we find out what play we're going to be doing. One of the directors is this cat named Bernard who is like the Eddie Murphy of brilliant acting teachers (Eddie at his height, not post-Klumps). I hope I get to work with him. He really knows his gold from his pyrite (fools gold). I don't know what that means, but he's an excellent teacher. SOOOOOOOOO... In conclusion, nothing says loving like cumbs in the oven.
