anti-OTP: Melisande/Salome

Jun 03, 2007 04:02

There is currently a very bored princess sprawled out on the floor of the main room, toying with the rings on her hand and the beads around her neck, looking for all the world as if it is a terrible injustice that no one has offered to wait on her hand and foot lately. She'd welcome company, although it might be hard to guess from her apathetic

Melisande is strolling by the doorway when she catches sight of the princess and something catches her eye. She taps her knuckles politely on the doorframe, once, twice, and then invites herself in without waiting for a reply.

Salome glances up when Melisade enters, then away again, beginning to braid a section of hair rather than greeting her.

Melisande raises her eyebrows delicately at this greeting - she's used to being treated a little better - but she merely says, "I hope I'm not disturbing something...important," with a dry tone in her voice.

A little shrug. "There is naught." She turns her gaze on Melisande again and studies her, hoping she will prove interesting.

Melisande allows Salome to study her for a few moments, returning the gaze with a bold examination of her own. "Good," she says in a silky voice. "And do I meet with your approval?" she gives a mocking little inclination of her head.

There's a small smile, which would look almost shy if Salome were not levelly meeting Melisande's eyes. "Ay," she replies, simply.

Melisande gives a small, lazy smile, her eyes half closed. She looks a little like a lioness curled in the sun as she moves a little further into the room. "I am glad," she says in an even more silky voice, "I wouldn't want to be found wanting by someone with such an attractively direct gaze." She smiles a little more widely. "So, miss Bold Eyes, who would you be?"

"Salomé." It is clear she expects the name to be recognized. She is accustomed to being known.

Melisande notes the confidence in recognition, even though she doesn't really. Well, vaguely, from a Yeshuite story, perhaps, but nothing she's familiar with. She smiles and offers her name with the same confidence in being known. "Melisande."

"I do not know the name." It's simple, factual, as if she feels she should -- less dismissive than the treatment most would get.

She shrugs, slightly. "I guess we're even, then," she says coolly. "I didn't know your name. Now I do, of course."

Salomé smiles again. "I am glad of it."

Her smile is lazy as she moves a little closer. "So why should I know you?" she asks in her soft and silky voice.

"I am a princess." Salomé speaks less authoritatively now, and leans in slightly to listen to Melisande's voice, which she finds lovely.

"A princess?" She smiles as she watches Salome lean toward her, adding an extra silkiness to her voice. "Fascinating. Indeed, perhaps I should...know you." Her voice gains a little edge of huskiness on the last words.

"If thou wouldst." She's still princess-like, giving permission, but she is watching Melisande with something like fascination, leaning closer still.
