Yeah, I know, this has taken me forever, but I've been busy.
It's funny how every year, Comic Con just gets better and better. Sure, the number of people attending the Con grows exponentially, but so does the number of people that I meet, which means more friends and more of an overall good time.
I know plenty of you will NOT read under the cuts, so just know this: I love you, seriously. My friends are the greatest group of people in the world.
Dana got here Tuesday morning, and we basically did nothing. We went to Wal-Mart, then went to Jess's house for dinner so that we could meet the familia. We hung out and watched Eureka (which, BTW, is officially my new favorite summer show. <333). Dana died, and I almost had to sleep at Jess's house, but then she awoke, and we went home to sleep.
Wednesday was PREVIEW NIGHT YAYAYAYAYAY! I took Dana to In-N-Out, where we met up with Aromee. Then we drove Downtown, parked, and made our way to get our badges. As soon as we got our badges, we went inside, then decided that waiting in lines was way overrated, so we walked downstairs and waited by the doors. Saw Cathy, whom I hadn't seen in a million years, then saw Brian (, and met his new girlfriend Kelly. I waited VERY patiently to get in the doors, and they finally opened them after forever. Went straight to the Browncoats booth to say hi to everyone there. Saw Shiny Head James, Lynn, Nik, Denise, the Other James, Arielle, and other people that I don't remember off the top of my head. Then we headed straight over to the Snakes on a Plane booth which was KICK ASS, and they were playing the Cobra Starship video on a loop, so that won so hard. That fucking song was the theme of the weekend, along with "Clothes Off!" by Gym Class Heroes. Around 8, we made our way back to the Browncoats booth, said bye to everyone, and then headed home so that we could get there in time for PROJECT RUNWAY! Project Runway notes:
- Imagine Wendy Pepper and Guadalupe Vidal had a love child. Everyone, welcome Angela Horseface to the world. I hate that bitch
- BRING BACK MALAN EVEN THOUGH HE'S A CREEPFEST.
- ROBERT + KAYNE = OTP FOREVER. THEY BETTER HOOK UP AND GET A CIVIL UNION OR WHATEVER.
After that, we all watched my Firefly Testimonial I did for Universal, made fun of it. I realized that I've had to have lost weight since then, which is totally awesome. Go me! Then Alee and Aromee left, and Patrick, Dana and I stayed up and talked, until I fell asleep.
I don't remember much of early Thursday, other than walking around and getting my awesome awesome Snakes on a Plane wings. I do remember going to the CFQ Summer Preview, which was hilarious as always. They gave Lost spoilers too, which was umm... interesting. If you want to know them, let me know. You'll be all WTF.
Then we were hella tired, so Aromee and I went outside and slept on the ground. Needless to say, in that five minutes we were sleeping on the ground, we were on the news. *facepalm* I bet I looked like a bum. We were awoken by Jenna, who was in line to get a raffle ticket to meet Jason Statham (Snatch, The Transporter, my husband) and Efren Ramirez (Pedro), and I told her to get me one. My number was one of the numbers called, so I totally got into the signing. Jason Statham is totally gorgeous and totally awesome in person. He loses points for wearing his aviators inside, but I guess it's totally Hollywood and we'll forgive him. Efren however... yeah, when I got up to him, he was macking on the chicks standing behind the booth. LOL at that. He was still super nice, and signed the poster with my name. I like when they do that because it's feels more personal or something.
After that, we went back upstairs to attend the Animaniacs panel... which yeah, BEST PANEL EVER. I felt like I was seven again. Allllllll the voices were there (except Dot, and Slappy Squirrel D:). I think the highlight for me was when they sang Yakko's World and Wakko's America LIVE. I've never known the words to Yakko's World (only Mattie knows that) BUT I TOTALLY SANG ALL OF WAKKO'S AMERICA. WIN. OMG I LOVE THAT SONG. If I really put my mind to it, I bet I could sing it right now. I was really sad when that was over, but it was so rad. If you were at the Con and didn't go to that, you missed out, definitely.
Like moths to the flame, we were drawn back to the Snakes on a Plane booth, which, because SoaP is produced New Line Cinema, had LotR stuff as well. We ooooohed and ahhhhhhed at that stuff, and then I, with help of Legolas Barbie and our new friends at New Line (Aromee, what are their names? You have the business cards... right?) peer pressured Aromee into buying this beautiful Elvish charm watch, which included a SoaP shirt for free, for the low low low price of 85 dollars. LOL. Then, we left.... and came back, so I can peer pressure her into buying really pretty earrings in the shape of Nenya, for the low low price of 50 dollars, INCLUDING Legolas Barbie. It was so funny, because I mentioned Tim Gunn, and the New Line people instantly LOVED us because they were PR fanatics too. They're going to try to hook us up with SoaP stuff, so we'll see. Cross Your Fingers people!
Then we took Dana to Coronado, and had sushi at Aromee's work, which was awesome. Yummy Sushi in Coronado wins at sushi, trust me on this. California Beach Rolls are where it's at. Then we went back to my house and uhhhhhh I think I slept? I don't remember.
Friday was panel day. For some reason, it's also the day I picked to dress up in my Kaylee costume, so very few people actually saw me in costume. We got to the con early, after I had a kick ass fake conversation via text with Aromee, and waited in line. As soon as I got into the Con, I went upstairs and waited in line for Ballroom 20 for the Battlestar Galactica panel. Saw Josef and Alice waiting in line, so I waited in line with them. We're sitting there, and we randomly see Joss Whedon coming up the escalators, so in true Kaylee fashion, I ran up to him and asked to give him a hug. Gave him a huge, shook his hand, and got a compliment on my costume from him. I didn't want to bother him longer than that, so I bounded off back to my spot in line. When the doors opened I speed walked, cut everyone off, and basically saved front row center for me and all my friends. WIN! Downside... having to sit through Family Guy, Snoop Dogg (who didn't even show up!) and Superman.
I took a break during the Superman panel, and walked around downstairs. Saw Joss AGAIN, and he was like "HIIIII!!!!" because he loves me. A lot. This caused me to be dangerously close to being not let back in, but got in, got my seat, and yeah.... BSG panel was rad. Scheduled to be on the panel was Ron Moore, Edward James Olmos, Lucy Lawless, Mary McDonell, and James Callis. Mary didn't show (dunno why either) but we got Aaron Douglas instead, so I'm definitely not going to complain. They showed us the Season 3 trailer TWICE, and then Alice and Josef got to ask the first two questions. Season 3 is going to be SO FRAKKING AWESOME, trust me on this. BSG is such an underrated show.
After that was over, ran downstairs into Hall H, in preparation for the SoaP panel. Saw the Universal panel, which included Peter Jackson and Alfonso Cuaron. Children of Men looks SO amazing. We got to see like, ten minutes or so of clips from it. After that panel was Star Wars. I watched the SoaP video a million times and played games on Aromee's iPod. Not interesting at all, except Indiana Jones gettting rocks thrown at him.
THEN IT WAS SOAP TIME. I COULDN'T EVEN CONTAIN MYSELF. Kenan Thompson was the MC, which owned. Final Destination 3 had a spot first, then Accepted, which yeah... Lewis Black says see the movie, and if you don't like it, SHUT THE FUCK UP. Then it was SoaP time!!!! They had a montage of all the fan made posters and parodies, WITH the Cobra Starship video spliced in between. We were standing up and singing the whole time, OF COURSE. Then they brought out snakes used in the movie, which was cool because I've always loved snakes. Then they showed TEN WHOLE MINUTES of the movie, and brought Samuel L. Jackson out. He just wins at life. I love him so much. People were asking him the most ridiculous questions, and he was giving the best answers to them. I loved it.
After SoaP, Dana went on an excursion to get a tattoo, and Aromee and I tried to crash into the Accepted kegger, but didn't need to because Denise had a million tickets to it. Ate free food there, hung out with Denise, then saw LEWIS BLACK! He's like, my favorite stand up comedian, and he totally made fun of how excited I was to meet him, so yes folks, I can say I was made fun of by Lewis Black. WIN! I have a picture with him, but it's on Denise's camera, so I'll have to get it up later. He was hella funny, and I told him about how there are a million Starbucks on one street in my city, and he laughed. I love him.
When the kegger was over, we waited for Denise's friends out front of the Hilton, then decided to go to the bar where a bunch of Browncoats were meeting up. When we got there, we didn't see them, and couldn't get in, so we called it a night. Five minutes after we left Denise, I got a call from her, but she told me to ignore it because she would be calling to give me her number. Went to Urban Outfitters and the Jewelry store. At the jewelry store, I checked my voicemails and found out that LITERALLY five minutes after we left Denise, Jorge Garcia checked into the hotel. UGH WTF. We still called it a night. On the way home, I called Mattie, expecting to leave a message, but he ACTUALLY ANSWERED. UUUHHHHHH WTF, I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK AND DIED. Then I went home, got in bed, and prepared for the big day... LOST SATURDAY.
I woke up Saturday morning knowing that day was going to be amazing. IT DIDN'T DISAPPOINT. AT ALL. We woke up late, and got to the Con at like, 5 AM. OMGZ SO LATE, I KNOW. As soon as the doors opened, we went straight to the line for Ballroom 20, and waited. Met a girl there dressed like Mrs. Clue or whatever. I dunno, the other lady. Waited in line some more. By that time, I already had my mind made up what I was going to ask, and there was so stopping me. So, doors open, I get front row center seats AGAIN. I think I actually sat in the same chair as for the BSG panel. Saved a seat for Mel, who was a wonderful person to finally meet. What a sweetheart! Panel starts after forever... they showed us clips and stuff, including a new Orientation Video (WIN! WIN!), then the panelists came out. On the panel were Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Damon Lindelof (creator/writer/producer), Carlton Cuse (creator/writer/producer) and Bryan Burk (executive producer). Then it was Q&A time, so I ran up to the mic, and was the 4th person able to ask a question... hold on to your seats, it's a doozy
Erin: Hi guys! Thanks for coming out, this is my first Lost panel.
Damon: AWESOME YOU WIN AT LIFE (I'm totally paraphrasing)
Carlton: I LOVE YOU A LOT! (Paraphrasing again)
Erin: Probably not after you hear my question.
Damon: ???
Carlton: ???
Erin: Okay... so Season 1 was fantastic, and was nominated for and won Best Drama Series at the Emmy's. Season 2 wasn't even nominated in the category. Were you surprised at this? Because I wasn't
Jorge: D:
Daniel: |:
Carlton: ?:
Bryan: *awkward*
Damon: D;
Crowd: BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! KILL THE BITCH!
YES KIDS, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT CAME OUT OF MY MOUTH, NO JOKE. I WAS BOOED OFF THE MIC. IT WAS FAN-FRICKING-TASTIC. I did get to stay long enough for Damon to diplomatically answer my question. He wanted to know why I didn't like Season 2, and then went into the "can't please everyone" spiel, and that BSG should've been nominated too. Then I was shoved back to my seat. As I was walking back to my seat, Damon pointed me out to everyone and told them what I was wearing, so they could "ask me what I didn't like" AKA kill me on the spot. He was also staring daggers at me for the rest of the panel because stupidly, I asked that question, then was in the front row. There were two other people that "badmouthed" Season 2, one of which we will get to later. Panel panel panel, awkward awkward awkward.
After panel, I went to see Javi, told him what I did and LOLed at Damon Lindelof hating my guts. The thing that completely took me aback was the facial recognition I got when I approached the Viper Comics booth. I love Javi, he's a very special man. Everyone read the Middleman, I COMMAND YOU. (Am I being a good minion, Javi?)
Then went back to the booth where the Lost people were signing and gave Damon my e-mail address (like he's EVER going to e-mail me), then found out he was signing at the Marvel booth later, so I waited in line there so I could properly "apologize". LOL HE HATES ME SO MUCH! He wouldn't even look me in the eye! It was SO FUNNY! Damon Lindelof is SUCH a girl... I mean, not everyone likes your show, hate to break it to you, and to stroll into a panel in a full auditorium and expect everyone to kiss your ass for two hours is little pretentious. I'm still going to watch the show though, because Lost owns my soul, plain and simple. I'm also going to get to the Convention bright and early next year, wait in line, and if Season 3 sucks? I'm going to get right back on that mic and tell him again. And you know what? If I enjoy Season 3, I won't be too proud to say so. I name dropped Matt to him too, and he really didn't care. I'M SORRY MATTIE, DAMON LINDELOF HATES YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE ASSOCIATED WITH ME NOW. CAN WE STILL HAVE BABIES?
After being avoided by the Nomad (LOL THE FUSE LOL), I waited in line with Dana because she was waiting in line for my BFF, Joss Whedon. I wasn't going to go to that signing because I had to meet Javi at the Viper Comics booth and give him the cookies I made him (which we all broken, and that made me sad, because my mom wouldn't let me take any of the tupperware). Anyways... waiting in line, and I saw this guy with a Oceanic Airlines duffel, which was totally rad, so I asked him where he got it. (Quick sidenote; in years past, I wouldn't have done that because I'd be too shy... *snaps* for me at being semi-outgoing now) He didn't remember, but we still kept talking. He gave me snaps for asking my infamous question, and then told us he was the one that asked when JJ Abrams was going to be coming back, if ever, so I gave him snaps right back. Then I asked him if he posted in any forums online, and totally expected him to say "OMGZ THE FUSE, DUH!", but no, he said "Ummm... I used to post at Lost-TV, and I'd sit in chat there a lot." WHICH HI, WHEN I WASN'T A BITCH, I'D SIT IN CHAT ALL THE TIME AT LOST-TV. Come to find out, I totally knew him, and now we're BFFs. And funny thing? His name is Matt. TOO MANY MATTS IN ONE FANDOM, SO CONFUSING.
After talking to Javi and Kathy and giving him his cookies, went to the Browncoats booth and hung out with my favorite people in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Nik and I ventured out of the air conditioning to go get food (well, I went to get Diet Coke, so whatever), and almost died in the process. Recreating the opening scene of Serenity (Firefly pilot, not movie) really helps when you're about to collapse in the middle of Macy's Junior section. Then we went to the screening of Done the Impossible, which, if you're a Browncoat, that documentary is truly inspiring. To be completely honest, I teared up so many times while watching it. I know I'm a late-comer to the fandom, but it still means a lot. After that, all the Browncoats were going to go to a bar... until they remembered I was still frakking underage, so they switched to a hotel bar, which I could actually go to. Aromee couldn't stay though, so she drove me home, and I drove back, and then found my people.
I LOVE EVERYONE SO MUCH. We should get a count on how many times I say that, but seriously, I do. Let's see... who was there? Brian, Kelly, Ray, Arielle, SF Ray, Kim, Denise, Garth, Alice, Josef, James, Lynn, Nik, Ashley, and probably like a million other people that I love dearly, but I don't remember. Jorge Garcia was there too, so I hid from him because we all saw what he did to Sawyer, and I really didn't want that to be me. Plus, he was chilling out and probably didn't want to be attacked by rabid fans, so I'm cool. Justin Long walked past me too, and hit me with his duffel bag LOL. Sat around, talked to people, and then a familiar face with newly trimmed blond hair caught my eye... yes kids, Gerard Way was at the bar (for those of you that don't know, he's the lead singer of My Chemical Romance). LOL. AND NO, I don't know what he was drinking, so I have no idea if he's staying sober or not. He was smoking though, I saw him with a cigarette. Jorge finally left, so I was able to go outside, and I made friends with a plant. ILMYPLANT. SF Ray tried to pick my nose with it, and finally suceeded. Then Nik made fun of me because I'm able to spot famous people virtually out of nowhere whenever I'm out in public... but hey, I'm awesome at fangirling because of that. Everyone decided to go to the Hyatt, and I decided that I needed sleep before I died, so they went to the Hyatt, and I went home. See how well that worked out?
Sunday I was half dead most of the day. Walked around the floor with Brian, Kelly, Ray and Amy, then somehow ended up being prize girl, along with Kelly, for the Browncoats Charity raffle. We raised almost 11K dollars this year!!!! WIN! The raffle was fun, with James running around in the back, and us laughing at everything. We even had a town cryer, which was hysterical. After that, I basically hung around the Browncoats booth, said bye to everyone, then ventured off to have Thai with Brian, Kelly, Denise 2, Paul, Aromee, Flora, and Dana, among others. Brian so graciously purchased me dinner (thanks again! *hug*), and we had fun. Then Dana, Patrick, Paul and I went to see Lady in the water, WHICH WAS FANTASTIC. DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE SAY, IT'S REALLY GOOD. I CRIED.
So that's it people, my weekend at Comic Con. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but that should be it. This took a million years to write, so comment! I LOVE YOU ALL.
