it snowed for four days. four! magical but it doesn't stay on the ground, which is actually quite nice considering that it means no nasty ice slippy-sliding. it falls, its beautiful, it turns to rain and dries up again. there is a word in german for this kind of thing, somewhere between 'favorable' and 'efficient'- günstig.
who gets into the most strict and exclusive club in berlin? julie does! berghain, which features a waiting line of taxis for about the half of people who get turned away at the door, welcomed my little self into its loving arms. let me say that i do feel quite hip. they don't allow cameras in the place, which used to be an old power station i think, and has secret passages, different floors and levels, dark rooms and not one mirror or reflective surface: checking yourself out is not allowed, ie being a little shit more concerned with how your hair looks than having a good time is not allowed. its a pretty awesome place. anna came over around 10 and begged me to go out, so finally i did. we left around 1 and it was snowing so pretty, making everything black with a white coat and yellow from the street lamps. everything glowed. i knew it would be one of those nights- all the gears where grinding to make it so. we hopped the trains to ostbahnhof and got out, crunch crunch through the mounting snow, through back streets and sliding around on the packed and slippery ice covered asphalt. when we finally reached the door, a line was already waiting, per usual. everyone ahead of us was turned away, then the bouncer looked at us and said in german 'you two?' we said 'ja' and he nodded us in. by 2am our group had grown to six, to dance and run around and explore and just act like grown up kids. berghain is like a berlin microcosmos, the city of children. you can stay there for days if you want to, unfortunately i had to work the next day so i left around 4.30 am. my roommates stayed till 11am. craziness!
today i hung out with my buddy detective schröder with the kriminal polizei. they tracked my phone and had me identify the kid who mugged me at the end of the summer and now they'll search his house i suppose. wow. due process is processing. i have to write a letter to the other counterfeiting branch about the ubahn ticket incident. fun stuff, like i have nothing better to do. that and visa things, tax things, work things, oh yea... and living once in a fucking while. now i gotta sleep! fuck.
