Five years

Nov 07, 2012 18:01

It's hard to believe it's been five years since I posted last, almost spot on to the day.  I turn 30 in a few days.  I'm rather ambivalent about actually being 30 and not having accomplished what 'most' people have accomplished by 30.  (Kids, Marriage, a career?, skinny-ier self, healthier, etc)
In other new news, my nephew is a month and a half old which is wonderful and amazing, I love him dearly - he is a sweet mellow baby, who likes to eat and is firmly established in the how to.  I am glad my brother is living closer and attending college, I hope he can regain some of his confidence, I know it isn't easy being in a place where you feel like everyone else knows more/is better at everything, but I think he will come through.
My parents came to visit 2 weekendsago/last weekend as Hurricane Sandy was in the process of heading up the eastern seaboard, they loved meeting the new addition, some of their political beliefs are a bit crazy, but we got through it.  New Jersey and NYC were badly hit.  Today we are having a Nor' Easter, which was supposedly only rain and by 330pm we had several inches of snow.  Hoping everyone in hard hit Sandy areas have blankets/ways to keep warm.
Yesterday was Election Day, I was glad to be able to go vote and did, President Obama was re-elected to another term, hopefully he can get more done this term, we'll see with the Republican majority in Congress.
I can see over the years, my writing has taken on an aura of brevity, I assume that is in no small part due to the fact that I am out of school and no longer writing long, superfluous papers - yet I am undecided on whether this is good or bad.  TBD
