just about the worst thing ever

OK, so i went to frisbee practice today, there's a tournement tomorrow, so we're really getting ready. I'm very excited about this. We just played a lot of pick up today, it was fun, i didn't play very well at all, but oh well. Anyway...

The whole point of this entry is not frisbee, see, normally i would walk back to my house with tommy gun, since he lives across the street, but he had to leave early, so i was walking back by myself. The fields we play on are right next to two basketball courts, and there were two full court games going on as i was walking by. So, being the fan of the game that i am, i was watching the games. I was watching the game on the court nearest me when i hear something loud on the other court. I look over and one player gets completely sucker punched by another guy. He wasn't even looking at him. Needless to say, the guy falls down and tried to cover up and protect himself. But before he can bring his hands to his face, not that it would have made that much of a difference, the guy winds up and kicks the guy in the head. Now, i didn't see the one guy do anything wrong, he didn't throw a punch or even push the guy. well, when the shoe hits his face, there's a loud noise and his head snaps back. I think i witnessed a man break another man's neck. Immediatly the guy that kicked him left. He got all his things and ran away. I ran into a building and had someone call 911. There was a huge crowd around the guy. Eventually an ambulance came and i heard them say things like "that one's broken too" and "don't move, or you may never walk again." I stood there in complete shock, shocked by the fact that one person could do that to another, and shocked by the awful sounds that Terence (i only know his name because the paramedics kept talking to him) was making. He was crying and yelling for help and just making these awful noises like he couldn't breath. They had to restrain him on one of those board things, then put him on a stretcher.

I didn't know anyone involved in this at all, but i felt awful. This man's life could potentially be ruined, or at least changed drastically, by this moron that decided to take exception to the fact that this guy was pointing at him (that's what he was yelling as he ran away from the courts).

So, i mean, this isn't anything new, and i'm not preaching or anything, but think. I mean, I know a lot of people that just get caught up in a moment, i do it too. And i don't think i know anyone that would do what i saw today, but that just scared the shit out of me. Hopefully i will keep the lesson i learned today with me for a while. I'm sure the guy that did this did not wake up this morning and decide he was going to break someone's neck, so i mean, i guess if you let your emotions get the best of you, bad things can happen. I keep thinking about the way his head snapped back. i walked back to my house in a daze, that was one of the scariest things i've ever seen in person.

So.....WOW.
