events of the last few days...
This is Bryan.
My mother died from brain cancer on Sunday, October 19th at 6:45pm CST in Montgomery, AL. I was in VA trying to catch a flight. She was not in pain and her brother and his family were with her so she wasn't alone. My sister and I made it to Atlanta by midnight and then drove over two hours to AL. Monday we had to identify her body she they could move her to the funeral home near my uncle's house. I was not prepared for what I saw and it haunts me. Cancer is such a cruel and terrible disease. My sister and I spent the week comforting each other all the while feeling like strangers among our own family. Friday was a small, family memorial service. We had pictures of my mother and the urn we picked out with her cremains. Dan and my sisters fiance, Lee, flew in on Thursday night for support. We all flew home together on Saturday night.
Today was my first day back at work and it was difficult. The personal items from Mom's apartment we had shipped back to VA arrived at my office today. So much sadness.
