Haven't written too much lately. This time last week we were at the hospital. I guess that would need some explanation. The short version of the story is that we found out a little while ago that Francisca was pregnant, but now there is no baby on the way. Due to some sort of genetic complications or just plain bad luck or a mixture of one or the other, the future little one was not going to make it.
So Francisca was in the hospital overnight on Sunday. The next few days we stayed with her Mum, then came back to our place on Thursday or so. Today was really the first time she left the house for an extended period of time. We went out to lunch for a place, and both ate too much.
It was some pretty sad news and also complicated to really know how to feel - it was not me going through any operations or physical pain. We were only just getting used to the idea of the appearance of an extra character in the storyline. I guess moods are improving, but maybe you could say the goalposts have been moved.
I guess the weirdest thing is that Francisca wanted to keep everything very low key and not have her work knowing, which in turn gave her a lot of stress, which was not required. In order to keep it low key, I told very few people. So then to tell them the additional news would mean needing to tell them the first news and maybe them being offended by not being told in the first place. All very complex. So, instead, I have not told too many people.
I applied for that job at the Australian Embassy the other day. While I think I have very good qualifications, I'm not sure I will get a run. Hopefully I at least get to an interview. There is also a position at the British Embassy - part time as well. Let's see how that one goes. I will apply.
