back to the way we were, nothing else mattered it was us against the world

So I went and had the interview with the comedy club yesterday. I got the job, but it's not really what I expected. I was thinking it would just be inbound telephone sales or maybe box office. It was a "sales rep" job after all.

But no.

It's selling tickets to comedy club events out in the streets. So kinda similar to that AFL ticket thing, but you get an hourly rate. It's $15/hr, 4 days per week, generally 9-2. Soooo. I've decided I'm going to keep telemarketing, and start doing this as well. So I will be working very, very, very, very long days. Earning lots of money (about $800/wk). So yeah, I think the maximum I will be able to do this for will be 1 month, probably less. It's more like a challenge to see if I can withstand working such a ridiculous amount. See how we go. If I can stand it for a month, we'll be really set to move in to Melbourne. If I do last the month, I would like to have about $1000 - $1500 in the bank.

I have an interview with Destroy All Lines on Monday. It's as a "nightclub promotions assistant" but parts of the duty statement include night duty manager and things like that. I'm guessing it'll be basically doing the door and Next and/or Bang or something like that. But basically, it's really good potential to get a start in the music business. And Next and Bang have bands every week, so maybe I could become the guy who books the bands there. But that's the first non-sales job that I've had an interview for down here. Not one of the sports jobs I have applied for have I even got to interview stage. Sigh. Ah well. I think this one has some good potential.

Today I have the day off, and tomorrow I get paid. This is all quite exciting. Playing footbag with Dan later on in Melbourne. Haven't been playing much, so I probably won't be in good form. Doesn't really matter, I have the day off.

So lots of things to do this weekend

I start a trial for this new job tomorrow, 9am. Selling tickets at the Good Food and Wine festival. The 3 day trial is a commission only basis, after that you're on the books. Then I work my telemarketing shift, then going out on the town.

Will go to Katy's drinks for a little bit, then head up to the Double Dragon show at Sectionate. Saturday I have to work again, then at night I'm going to go to the About Rollerblading premiere at ACMI, then Shotpointblank at the Arthouse and on Sunday I'll play a bit of footbag and maybe go to the SPB a/a show, if I feel like it.

I really have a huge craving to see 4 Dead a lot more than any other band. Much, much more. I don't think I have actually seen them at all this year. Fuck. The last time I saw 4 Dead was at that instore show in Landspeed I'm pretty sure. That's far, far too long ago.

So yeah, Destroy All Lines job may have good potential. Comedy Club job is going to be real bad, but it will give me some more money, and fit in with the schedule of my telemarketing. I think there's going to be a mass exodus at the call centre, of all the people who have worked there quite a while. The management are being really shit to everyone, not letting them change their shifts around exams etc and so I think that within 2 weeks about 10 people will quit.

But yeah. This weekend is gonna be good.
