pick it up
big night last night. Real fucking big. Like today, people kept telling me things that happened and I'm like "oh really...I don't remember that at all". I generally remember things that happen when I'm drunk, but there are massive gaps in the night.
Anyhow
we went and saw Something For Kate. Definitely good stuff. Ben paid for my ticket as a birthday present, and it was pretty damn rad. And because I was so wasted, I decided to take on the roll of "the drunk cunt up the back". Like when they're all "this one's from the new record" I yelled out "PLAY SOMETHING FROM THE OLD RECORD" with precision timing. About 2 seconds after that I got a message from Adine saying "Dan was that you". I was talking to Adine in the morning and was all "yeah, not going to SFK, have no money". So I spent most of the set hanging with her. Something For Kate played a good mix of old and new stuff, and were very, very tight.
Apparently on the way home (I don't recall this) I was walking up the stairs, and just fell over, so in an effort to make it more graceful I just sat down on the steps for a while. I think I called Sam when I got home, but I'm really not sure. I'm gonna go with yes, but I don't remember any of the conversation. Actually, when I got home, Doug's Dad was on the couch, and I was just stumbling through and went and made some toast.
This morning I awoke to them playing "Gone" by Butterfly Effect on the radio. I wandered up to uni, mainly thing "why am I already awake". I had yet another attempt to make the poster for the show next week with Neck Up, but gave up on that, because all my attempts were crap. So I got the paper and came home.
Polished off my annotated bibliography. Props to Jem for hooking me up with the BMA article on Kahuna. No one will have that one! Go me. I wonder how I will go for that. I think it's maybe a bit too long, but most of the info is good stuff. I'm guessing somewhere in the middle of credit and distinction. Sent that in on WebCT, which was much eaier than the last time I was trying to hand something in in the midst of being incredibly drunk.
Soon after finishing that, Thommo came over. Apparently, (another not recalled event) I called Thommo last night about meeting up and getting a plan for our research with the raiders. So we made the plan, and popped over to the raiders to grab the surveys, which there are plenty more of, which means we have more than the target number, which is definitely good.
I just hung out for a while, then went up to uni to play some footbag. It was such an amazing day today. Incredible weather. And there were so many people up at uni just soaking up the sun. Would have been the best beach day. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO BEACH IN CANBERRA!
Had a little kick with Dana, but I wasn't playing well, not digging the vibe, and Matt offered me a beer in exchange for voting for some Clare chick in the voting for the uni council. I accepted this offer, and we headed to the bar. Benno came along a while into things and Michael was there, and he bought me a beer too. The hair-of-the-dog treatment was working pretty well, and I was starting to feel alright, especially after having some chips as well.
So I went to the computer labs, to try and get a decent design for the poster. And I did the one in the post below. It really didn't take very long, and it looks reasonable. All the other ones I did looked like absolute shit. But that's done now. After that I went up to The Pete's Tavern Basement place. Sadly, Nikki the hot chick that works there was not to be seen, but I gave them some posters to put up there. I popped over to Sound Underground as well, I was going to give them a poster to put up, but they were looking very busy because there was a show on there tonight, and by the looks of the things the average age of people was looking to be about 12. I picked up a copy of "Bored Teenagers" which makes me go LOL, there's stuff like a "suburbs that suck" section. Amused me well and good.
So yeah. I'm not doing anything tonight, I need some rest. And I don't really have any money.
MM9 tomorrow. Lithium afterwards.
....Dead saturday. Parents coming up, dinner and stuff. Think we're gonna hit up some turkish.
Sydney with Sam on Sunday for Atreyu/36 Crazyfists. Going to arrive at the venue at about 4:30, hopefully get some cricket action in, like the time at Mudvayne. Few other characters I know going too Todd, Brooke, Marika I think a couple of others.
Hang round Sydney for a bit on Monday, then return later in the day.
