I keep looking into grants and sponsorships and stuff...and getting more and more obsessed with it. It's pretty crazy. This could well end up what I'm being paid to do. I could handle that.
But anyway
our project for sports sponsorship, we are the sponsorship guys for next year's aussie titles...just for our project, we are going to do a pitch to Red Bull to be naming rights sponsors at a cost of $3 000. In return, they get prime spots for signage (provided by them), official event t-shirts, with Red Bull logo on them (provided by them), logo at the top of all event media releases and whatnot, footbag players available to do other demos (at an additional cost) and they can sell Red Bull on site at the competition.
In grants
there is a $2 000 grant available for Sport and Rec Tasmania for holding a national championships in Tasmania, so I don't see why we can't apply for that one.
there are also grants available from Hobart City Council available for holding events, so we can try for one of them.
There was another one from Events Tasmania, but it was a bit much....it said you needed to bring 50+ people to Tasmania for the event, which probably won't happen, and all you get is $20 per person, after the event and everything has been verified
For other sponsors
i'm interested in approaching
Qantas- official flight provider. Maybe some discounts or something like that in return
YHA- official accomodation. Footbag has a connection with backpacker lifestyle, etc...can keep links in cities all over the world
Elemental Footbags- Footbags to give away
Falls Festival- free tix to Falls (this should already be happening)
local Hobart businesses- giveaways, official restaraunt etc
But anyway, there should be some money to work with if we get a few grants and sponsorships. Of course it's not likely that you can just go "I'll have this one, this one and this one"
So yeah. You might laugh this off and go "as if footbag will ever get any money" and you could well be right, or I could be laughing at you, all the way to the bank! The thing with doing the sponsorship for the Hobart event, is that it's a good building block for me to bid on the 2008 Aussies, which currently I'm planning on doing, most likely in Sydney. Oh and if I do end up organising that...there will surely be a massive show at some stage of the week to go to. Yes! I like it.
Still not sure if I'll change to the Tourism Management double degree...Was jsut thinking that, as long as I don't fail anything, I'll be finished uni at the end of the year and that would be a pretty good feeling. Though changing to the tourism one, I'm sure I could do an exchange, which would be awesome. But yeah. The summer holidays I want to save a lot of money. The thing with these sponsorships is the more funding available to the tournament, the less it will cost me for a holiday in Tasmania. I'm thinking after the tournament, I might stay down there another week or so, check out the countryside, cos it's not particularly likely I'd go there again anytime soon after. It's a long way down the line anyway, it's not til next year, but I dunno. It's good to have some vague plans for my future. But yeah..they're pretty damn vague for the moment
