sound underground show
so....the post on the SU forum said the show would start at 6...so I rock up to ANU at about 7....only to find doors don't open til after 8. And then I thought...how gay. So I walked into Civic...and just...wandered. Very aimlessly. There was some free bbq thing going down...and even though I was completely full from a decent dinner that I actually cooked, being the master of free bbq's I had to go at least one. So I had one of them, and kept wnadering...ended up going through the back of the ANU and back to the bar, where I proceeded to sit down by myself and watch Young and the Restless. I met this other dude Brad who was wearing a Norma Jean shirt after their set...and then some band came on and I didn't like them one iota, so I sat outside.
Kayte and Paddy and Brianna came a while into their set, and walked directly past me so I was all like "PADDY!!!!"
It was probably the first time I've ever watched moments and enjoyed them....it's weird, every time I see them I have an expectation of them having a completely different sound...and I think this time I was expecting the right thing, and in the mood for it.
There was a lot of time spent sitting outside with Brianna and Paddy and Dave and various other people. We discussed stuff, and things.
and who should arrive but RANGER DANGER, high voltage!
I dread the day when I find saying ranger danger not funny anymore, due to overuse of the term :P
So we went in for Stab...they had so many technical difficulties which got pretty annoying. And my attempt to take footbag to the mosh, pretty much failed. haha especially my first go....it was like...toe>inside> drop.........then toe>inside>outside>clipper>toe>drop
second go I went a bit better, until I tried ducking clipper, and just completely lost the bag. But hey, I wasn't wearing lavers, and I was wearing shitty shorts for shred, AND it was pretty damn dark, and I was using a black and white bag. But yeah by the end of Stab's set I was very sore and tired and feeling like absolute crap..fucking sickness. They played lots of new shit, it was pretty much one old, one new..and they were all pretty good...Jon of 4Dead fame got up for the song that he's gonna sing on, which will be sweet.
umm went back outside afterwards cos I felt like absolute shit. Talked with Brianna a fair bit...I think we should hang out when I go to Brisbane. And eat Chinese food.
Watched Brisk. I was feeling real shit, but their set cheered me up a fair bit, though I was getting really tired. 4Dead were the final band and basically I felt as if I was about to pass out the whole time. I was leaning against some vending machine the whole time, which wouldn't suprise me if I knocked over. So I didn't enjoy them that much because I felt ....Dead.
So anyway, afterwards we sat around waiting for someone to come up with a great plan. So the plan was to go to the Phoenix where "everyone" was going. SO we went to the Phoenix. After a great debate of whether Kayte could drive....she was pretty damn drunk, and it's probs for the best she didn't....Phoenix is like 2 blocks anyway.
I had NO MONEY to spend, which meant everything was going to be ultra gay, unless someone bought me drinks, which wasn't going to happen. So we stood in Phoenix for about 5 minutes, with no chairs to be found...and then went back outside. Where we stood for FUCKING EVER, doing nothing. Waiting for people to make up their minds as to what they were doing.
So eventually we went home. And I got a lift, which was good cos otherwise I would have walked home, and have an even worse flu than I already do. But the lift was sweet...then Paddy borrowed my ASD CD and I get From These Wounds in return...sweet!
So for today
I'm gonna mope around going....I STILL FELL SO FUCKING SICK AND THIS IS FUCKED etc
and then I'm gonna go meet Jess after she finishes work.
and then we're gonna go to the metal show.
it's so retardded...tonight you gotta show what side you're on....there's the punk show at green room...or the metal show at ANU. It's a bit dumb really, some people like both. I would have liked to see Irrelevant. But the fact of the matter is that I don't like any of the other bands on that lineup. So metal me up. And I'm more of a metal kid than a punk kid anyway. I jsut hope I don't feel as sick as I did last night. Which is pretty much unavoidable.
I think Gabe is coming up...and some other Bega types. It'll be cool to see them....until they start going "urrr as if you'd like fucking hardcore" and then I'll kick him, again.
so yeah, I had a kinda average night last night, but watched some rad bands, saw some good people, and got to say loudly "RANGER DANGER" it was just a shame I had no money/beer costs so much at the ANUs

I forgot to say....I was talking to Brianna on msn a couple of nights ago...and she's like yeah I like indie etc...........and then when she walked in with Paddy I'm like.....that's the girl that likes indie! hahah she was bitching that no one knew any bands she liked....and I was just like...oh what are you into...Josh will be into these...and she named about 5 bands and I had nothing. Go Dan.
but yeah. I still feel like poo poo.
