For some reason I just haven't been able to make myself write in my LiveJournal lately. I think it's a combination of just not having all that much to write about and a general feeling of apathy towards life. My last quarter of school was an absolute nightmare. I only had three classes: Critical Thinking, Non-Linear Editing II, and Directing the Documentary, but they were so work-intensive that they almost drove me nuts. The last few weeks before finals I was at the editing labs almost every single night until midnight trying desperately to get my final projects done in time, but it all paid off. I now have a really excellent (in my humble opinion) documentary on a local Atlanta band that played in the 99x/Miller Light Battle of the Bands and won. The band was awesome, and they're even putting our names in the liner notes of their new CD, which will be really cool. If you want you can check out their stuff at
http://www.purevolume.com/thegatesofberlin . My editing teacher thought that the piece was great, and gave me an A- in the class overall, but my documentary teacher wasn't of the same opinion, and failed our entire class. English prick. It really pisses me off too, because every single group in our class showed him their work at every single stage in the production, and he hardly had a bad word to say about any of the projects. We even showed him our finished video the day before they were due for critique, and he said it was great with a few minor flaws. But when we went to turn in the docs on the last day of class, he failed everyone. I honestly don't get it.
So now that school is over for a month, I'm getting a chance to relax and get some much needed rest. I'm going to be off to Colorado on June 29th, and I'm staying out there until the 9th. It's going to be great. I'll get to see my cousin Steve, who I haven't seen in a year since he moved back out to Arizona. I'll also get to see my cousin Nathan, who I haven't seen since I was about eight years old. It should be a lot of fun since we're going up to Creed for the fourth of July. Creed is the most backwater redneck mountain town you've never seen. It's an old mining town nestled in the mountains, that has since become a haven for hippies looking to get away from society, and it's so amazing. It's the only place on earth where peace signs and bowling pins are considered an acceptable decoration for the outside of a house. Oh, and don't even get me started on the Cajun Embassy...words can't describe the magnitude of fucking awesome that place exudes. Spending the 4th up there will be quite a trip. Imagine a town of only a few hundred hippies getting invaded by over 10,000 rich people looking to get wasted, shoot fireworks, and fight. Should be interesting. Oh, and Creed is in the middle of the San Luis Valley, which aside from Nevada is the number one area for alien activity in the midwest, I believe. That or it's pretty high up there. Cattle mutilations, abductions, crop burnings, lights in the sky, all that crap. I think the hippies must put LSD in the water supply on occasion.
Well, I think that's about it for now, I'm sure there's lots of stuff I'm forgetting to put in, but that's what happens when you don't update in forever. Oh well, I'll try to get on this thing more often, even though nobody ever reads it anyway. Oh, one more thing, I may or may not be having a party at my parent's house this weekend. My mom and brother will be in Auburn all weekend, and my dad's going down to watch, so it depends on whether or not I can convince him to stay overnight. If he does, the house is ours, and everyone's invited for some general mischief and mayhem. 'Till then, smell ya later.
