15 MBs of Memory lane (from a conversation with Meredith):
Remember when people used to say "stats" instead of "asl".
Remember when ICQ was cool.
Remember your ICQ number. 1865648!
Remember when html chats were cool. www.chathouse.com. Where you had to press refresh all the time. Remember that.
Remember when people used to say "Hiya!".
Remember when Kibo was an internet celebrity. www.kibo.com. Poor Kibo - he is so not a celebrity anymore. He is probably doing a google search for his name everyday in the hope of finding himself again.
Remember when a "web page" used to just be one page that had everything on it and you just would scroll down.
Remember blinking text.
Remember wallpaper.
Remember the animated .gif that was a mailbox where the mail comes out.
Remember when you used to choose "images off" option on your browser to make sites load quicker.
Remember when you had some browsers which didn't have the capacity to show images, let alone frames.
Remember Geocities in its heyday.
Remember when surfing the web was actually what one did for fun. Remember that it meant going to www.yahoo.com and clicking on their something like five sites under each category.
Remember when your dad first told you what "lol" meant, and that he got it wrong and thought it meant "lots of love".
Remember when people used to say RATFLMAO because they actually found joke emails funny because they had never read them before.
Remember when you could get a hotmail address THAT WAS ACTUALLY YOUR NAME.
Remember when you got your first emails and you used to print them all out.
Perhaps it was just me.
I had difficulty transisting from letter to email.
