I Hate This Town

I hate this town...this whole county. It sucks. There's fucking nothing to do around here. I'm going out of my mind being completely bored. Few of my friends ever have time to hang out, those that do seem to never have the same days off as me (I hate my fucking schedule). I don't want to play any more D&D either. I've grown completely tired ( Read more... )

xmas, emo, boring, work

You know...I forget some times how blunt I come across. And that advice isn't always what's necessary. Linear thinker and all that.

I've been down many a dark road myself. I've been in financial situations in which I was out of work, behind on rent, no power or heat, and a car in serious need of repair. I've had times when I was so lonely and depressed and frustrated that I wanted to slip into oblivion.
I very much understand what you're going through.

So I emphasize these things. You're always welcome to hang with me. All you have to do is prod me. Some times I need to be prodded. We can work around my schedule and yours. And there are plenty of things other than D&D to do. Perhaps some things that you haven't thought of.

If you wind up out of the apartment with no place else to go, like others...you can always land here for a while. It's not a great place...but it's dry and warm.
Your car is having trouble...pester your friends. Jason and I are two who can help. Just as long as you keep a close eye on Jason. He has trouble with distributer caps...
It might be that we can help you find an inexpensive solution.

I haven't been getting out much since I torpedoed the gaming. I spend most days after work alone.
And there are some things I used to do quite a bit with friends. Play pool, go bowling, go to the batting cages, stroll through a park, play catch, Hack (more recently), etc...

And don't forget...you always have a standing invitation over here. And at Mark/Marianne/Jason's. Speaking of which...you might consider talking to Mark. It looks like he's going to be in sole possession of the house. Who knows...? You may be able to become a room mate there and solve the problem you have with living in that dump.

The thing is, I love my job except for the pay, and the lack of weekends off. I have way too much fun there just working sometimes. I don't even know why I mentioned college, because I decided against that. I realised it would just be a waste of time and money considering what I want to do.

I don't think I'll ever not be able to pay rent, it's just I'll never have enough for deposit on a new place since I never have more than $50 left over after paying rent and bills every month. If you want to take a look at my car to see if there's any way to keep the oil from pouring onto the manifold, I don't know when a good time will be. I'm pretty much only available Monday and Tuesday mornings, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Pool and bowling are fun, and Mark was doing that regularly for a while with his coworkers, but I think that fell apart. Also, I think they closed down the only pool hall I know of around here. I go on walks all the time, but it's always alone. Didn't know that D&D completely stopped. Must have missed that announcement.

Well...there's two ways to go from there.
Stay with the job...and redouble the efforts to land a second part time.

Or go for the job you don't love. We often don't get to do the work we would like to do. My resume is (for the most part) a line up of jobs I hated but took to build experience...and (mostly) to just survive until the better came along.

No one really thought to invite me for the ol' playing pool, or bowling when you guys were going out. But it doesn't have to be with the same friends either. You want to get out and do some thing...? Give me a holler. I need to get out more myself. And the batting cages...? inexpensive and way more fun than most people think.
And walks are better with company.

And...the car. Would that be evenings on wednesdays and thursdays? And if that doesn't work out...The ship yard shut down is coming to us very soon. The 22nd is the big day for that. Car's too important to wait for though. We should get together on that as soon as possible.

And yah...I got severely burned out on running game. Would have liked to have been in one...but the only game master in town was you...and you too burned out on it. I announced it in my sadly much ignored northrealm journal. Which, incidently, is what set off Diane's annoyed rant.

Can't win them all I suppose.

Any way...you need hang out time...we'll make some. And car fixit time....and stuff.
