Snow

So I just got home a couple hours ago after not being able to since Monday. Serves me right for trying to get into work. Nearly got stranded in Silverdale due to weather and waaaay too many bad drivers that think shopping in a snow storm is a good idea. So I was stuck away from home with only a change of work clothes (with shoes not made for ( Read more... )

Yeah, I only had two shifts this week so I figured I should at least try to get out there on Monday seeing as how it was only a 4 hour shift. Then it turned into more like a 6 hour shift because a lot of people couldn't make it into work and we had a LOT of customers (people coming out to shop in the middle of the snowstorm, apparently). So then I took off as soon as I could, but got stuck in Silverdale for 5 hours, alternating between getting stuck on ice or in traffic jams.

I finally made it to Mark's house around 10, after leaving work around 4:45. The worst part was the times I got stranded and I wasn't able to call ANYONE because all the phone lines were jammed. Oh, and my doors kept freezing shut so a couple times I was pretty much trapped in my car. I was REALLY close to just getting a hotel room in Silverdale until I found out that 3 and Kitsap Way were pretty much clear (except for a few trees in the road I had to drive around). Oh, and all the exploding transformers around town made for a great light show.

Anyway, I DID end up calling out on Tuesday after spending the night at Mark's since Sherridan was a sheet of ice and my clothes were still damp and smelly from the day before (and I was still tired and shaken from the night before). Then Diane was pretty mad at me for calling out, which annoyed me. But I ended up going to Fred Meyer with Shawn, Mark, and Ruth and we got a bunch of Nerf guns and met a couple gamers at a coffee shop, so that was fun.

It could have been worse. Sam had to spend the night at Teletech, and Rob apparently lost his house and both cars to a falling tree. So yeah...
