Okay, no one really cares about this, but I was kind of impressed that I could sound like a damned businessman in an email, because as anyone who's ever read something i've sent has seen, i usually sound like i just woke up. So check it out (also note the long and pretentious job title. how great will that shit look on a resume?)
To Ms. Karran-Cumberlege and other members of the VW Investor Relations team:
My name is Daniel MacCombie, and I work for the Advisory Committee on Corporate Responsibility in Investment at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. The committee is in place to consider ethical issues and issues of moral responsibility in the investment policies of Brown University, to determine how the University will vote on proxy resolutions, and to work on other related matters.
I am writing you today to ask for information on Volkswagen's operations in Sudan. Recently, the ACCRI has been grappling with the issue of how to handle our investments in companies that are supplying and/or working with the Sudanese government, and whether or not these operations are aiding the government in its ongoing campaign in the Darfur region. We have been alerted that not only does Brown own a significant portion of VW stock, but that your corporation has supplied a number of vehicles to the Sudanese government. If possible, it would be of great aid to us if you could provide any useful information regarding the nature of these sales, and any other information about Volkswagen's operations in Sudan.
Any information you could provide would be extremely helpful, and we would appreciate it very much. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
Daniel MacCombie,
Research Director,
Brown University Advisory Committee on Corporate Responsibility in Investment
