I really dont know how businessmen and women can fly back and forth across the world going to business meetings frequently. I would be falling asleep on the boardroom table making drool puddles on the day's agenda. I know that jet lag is tough for everyone but I seem to be affected by it especially hard. When i first got to Japan I couldnt sleep past 4am for about 2 weeks and last summer when I came back from America my system got all messed up and thats when I had all kinds of stomach problems. My hat is off to those bussiness people who do this as a job!

I am back in the Nippon with one day of work under my belt. Our new school year starts on Thursday and yesterday we had a day full of meetings with our 8 new teachers. One of the new teachers sits next to me and she is only a year older than me. She seems really cool despite the obvious first day of school jitters. It made me think back to my first day of work. It was the first week in August blazing hot and ridiculously humid. I had a business suit on and I was sweating from every crevice on my body. I was sooo nervous and still not sure if I had made the right decision about coming to Japan. I remember being comforted by a letter that my predecessor had left for me with some information about the school and what I would need to do in the first few days. The letter said "I know you are wondering how it could possibly be this hot and why you have absolutely nothing to do (which were both true) but just sit back turn the little fan on the desk toward your face, relax and enjoy the ride." It is amazing how small gestures like that one can make you feel so much better. Im hoping to be able to do the same for Ono sensei, the newbie who sits next to me now.

Sakura Sakura--
Cherry Blossom season is in full effect in Japan. When I flew into Narita Airport on Sunday I saw a whole line of those beautiful trees in bloom. The cherry blossoms are not in bloom in my town yet but should be by next week. Last year I did not take pictures of them at all so this year I will have to make up for it. Will post pics as soon as I can.
