Yes! Brilliant thinking- let's put a spending freeze on education in America! I know my concern is about just how much money we are borrowing from other nations to cover our deficit. I know I could care less about the system that educated me, that has allowed me to comprehend what is going on in the world today. I know that I could care less about the quality of education that my younger sister is recieving, or that of the children I would like to have some day. No, no, I insist that we keep bailing out other countries when disaster strikes them, or that we play police man to the world. Because the image of America to the rest of the world matters to me than what I see in my own back yard: a sixteen year old who cannot read past a sixth grade level, or that second grade girl who has an uncanny ability to understand science but will never be able to develop it because her school cannot afford to give her advanced courses.
"It's going to be okay", you say,"This administration places a high priority on education" (and health care, and the environment, and energy).
I'll believe it when I see it.
