As you know or may not know, the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act)
that will go into affect on Feb. 10, 2009 will dramatically affect all big and small companies
within the juvenile products industry including the cloth diaper and accessory market.
CPSIA redefines the legal meaning of “children’s products,” “child care articles,” and “toys”
to cover virtually ALL products designed for use by and/or in relation to children 12 years
old and younger, as well as all products designed to “facilitate sleep or the feeding of children
age 3 and younger, or to help such children with sucking or teething.” Due to the ambiguity
and poor consideration of this vaguely written law, it has the potential to force many small companies
out of business if it is not amended.
