The line At sundown on the freeway/Is no place for goodbyes is a bit mysterious. I suspect that it refers to the line in CLYG about being at the end of the road.

I have read elsewhere that this may be a literal reference to their saying goodbye at the end of the tour, after Ford Day in Detroit.

Oh god, oh my god, I haven't even read this section yet, but a Ryan Tedder demo version of Sleepwalker with different lyrics, I can't even handle it. OneRepublic is my god. Also, that song is like my favorite. Also, lyrics tinhatting!!!!!!

Okay, well, I had to go and make dinner and then I had some wine at dinner so now I'm a little tipsy, but hopefully I will still be able to finish going through this and absorb the awesomeness that is this theory.

What was I going to say about the rest of this scene..... Oh right. The Sleepwalker/From the Ashes connection is something I noticed right away and I was like 'OH HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS, YOU ARE SINGING RIGHT AT EACH OTHER' and it definitely made me always tinhat Sleepwalker, even when a lot of people said that song was either about Brad or just something written for him, and I love that you saw this conversation in that because really now, that connection is so strongAlso, very interesting road connection between BIB and CLYG! I haven't really looked very closely at the lyrics to CLYG so I completely didn't even notice that ( ... )

Yes! I saw your connection between FTA and Sleepwalker on your motifs page earlier tonight and I flailed a little. Great minds think alike!

I think what's tricky about this storyline is that we get a rather linear version of what they went through, but I imagine that in real life they cycled around to the same issues and same questions several times. We can kind of get a sense of that in BWCU where Kris says something like "we keep going round and round with this."

So I think CYLG probably reflects on ongoing theme in their story.
