The summer of 7 (and firsts....)
I had one of the greatest and wrocking weekends an HP fan can ask for!!!
It all started on June 21, the official 1th day of summer......
That was a day of Firsts... I did my first roadtrip by myself.... I had done roadtrips before, but all with friends and family, but this time, since none of my friends (or family) like Harry Potter (except for the movies...), I did a small driving trip from Nogales (my hometown) to Tucson.
My mom was all worried that I was going to have an accident, or that I was going to get lost in a city I have gone thousands of times, and I did get lost (but on my way back to my cousin's house.... I did find my way... I wasnt THAT lost...)
So, after arriving to Tucson, and dumping all my stuff at my cousin's home, I headed straight to the mall where Borders is located, just so I could hear, see and laugh with 3 of the most awesome people I have ever had the chance to meet: Melissa, John and Sue from PotterCast!!!!!!
You know i'm a huge fan of PotterCast (I mean, even they know!!!), so I was way too excited about the fact that I was going to be present at a LIVE POTTERCAST!!!!!! Me!!! The girl whose luck is really bad, and thought would never get to see those guys live!!!!!
So I was there, standing on the kid's section at Borders, waiting for them to arrive, and for the show to start, while enduring the odd stares of other people because I had 3 bags with me, 1 where I had gifts, my copy of HBP, pens, my camera, and some other stuff, another with the video camera plus accesories and 1 with some stuff I had just bought.... so trying to juggle all that stuff and the excitement I felt was a bit too hard... specially when I got to see Sue...... My hearth just gave a huge flip flop and I started saying "it's.... It's... IT'S SUE!!!!!!!!" and she just looked at me like "huh, ok, calm down.... I will wave to you so you can stop shouting my name..."
After Sue, in came John (another huge flip flop, followed by a big swoon) and Bree... Melissa came out of nowhere, and started to talk with some of the Borders workers who were pasing all around, trying to fix everything for the podcast....
After a while of coming's and goings from the Trio, bringing boxes of stuff, making fun of a Snape figure, trying the audio system (during which a 14 year old girl sang a song from Le Mis, and made Melissa almost cry), having some fun before the show even started and all of us sitting on the floor, the show was about to start!!!
So, like a good GG, I put the video camera on a tripod, and put the camera on my legs, and started taping the whole show!!!!!
I know that Kimmy will kill me for what I'm about to say next, but sorry, that's what happened....
So, I had the plan to take video, and take pictures, but I got soooooooo into the whole show, that I forgot that I had the photo camera on my lap, and I didnt take any pictures............ I have video of the whole thing, but I dont have any pictures..... oh well......
Some brief things that happened on the show:
- During the 5 prediction questions, Melissa said not once, but 3 times, that I was wrong for the fact that I think that Harry will die
- I got to pwn John with some trivia (Sorry John! I still love you!)
- I had a chance to talk about my dragon theory (that was too cool!!)
- Tons of laughing and stuff.....
I cannot talk too much about the show, because you would have to listen to it to understand a lot of things... and since it hasnt come out, you will have to wait...
So, after the show, I got the chance to meet the Trio. Seriously, they are 3 of the most down to earth people you can ever get the chance to know!!!! They are internationally known and they still take the time to talk with each and every fan, take pictures, sign stuff.... They rock!!
I was way excited of my chance to talk to each of them, and get hugs!!!! I mean, not everyday you get to hug them and tell them how much they rock!!!
Sue - Thank you!!! You know how much I admire you, and now I do even more!!! I love you girl, and keep squeeing as cool as you do!!!!!
Melissa - Thanks for all the advise!!! Not everyone is willing to help others, and you truly did, and I hope that your book comes out as cool and fun and good as you are!!!
John - Man, you are too good!!! And I sincerely hope that you liked the candy... Thanks for making me laugh too hard!!!! You rock!!!
So, after the PotterCast, I headed straight to the library where Harry and the Potters where going to sing..... and let me tell you, if you ever get the chance to go see them live, DO IT!!!!!! They totally WROCK!!!
The place was packed with people who do like Wizard Rock, who made me feel good for the fact that I was dressed like a Ravenclaw student, who were willing to sing along them, and rock Tucson!!!
It's hard to describe what you feel, it's like you are singing with friends, because HatP's are really down too earth too... you really feel like they are your life-long friends who really know how to wrock your socks off!
The concert was great! They sang a lot of songs I knew (specially "This book is so awesome" which was the first song I ever heard of them...), a lot of songs I didnt knew (but now I do, and I love them as much as the others), got to hug the cute drummer they had during "The Weapon", and specially, have an awesome time!!
