YES! My router finally kicked into life today! (still gotta buy a new one - preferably one that doesn't reset to default values whenever you try to save your customised configuration, lol)
Well, I'm in my flat at last, still got a few boxes to sort out and my wardrobe doors got broken in the van but it's all good. Especially my 36" TV! hehehe - now that was a pain in the arse to carry up to the third floor. Can't shop properly yet cos I haven't got a freezer ( a slightly significant thing to forget about - Doh!) and I need curtains for my lounge and computer room. God, I actually started browsing through a home and garden magazine the other day - I used to take the piss out of people at work who did that. I suppose I'm finally forced to grow up a bit!
More good news! 3 of us have put in a regrading claim at work based on the fact that our so called 'senior' engineers do (and know) no more (in one case a lot less) than we do, both in volume and difficulty and my manager signed the form to say he's backing our claim. And were not talking a slight difference in our pay, were talking a BIG difference. Cool.
Theres a meeting between the directors of personnel and information, with a 3rd senior personnel member next week to decide.I know cos the senior personal officer who is the in-house staff rights type person is my mates sister and is keeping me informed, it was her who encouraged us to go ahead with it in the first place so I guess I can count on at least one of the three votes I need then. This would be a lot harder if I worked in the private sector but the public sector has a lot of policies forced upon them that can help cases like ours. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime I've got a XP2700 cpu and 1gig of corsair ram to install, I just need a cheap motherboard and I can build an xp2000 with 1/2 gig Ram as a second system. Worth doing.
